Location: LaCrosse, WI | You can use willows pretty much anywhere once the water warms up to about 55-60. On the Mississippi we use them a lot in front of wing dams. We cast them and let them roll with the current in front of the face of the dam.
We usually rig them with a single hook (bead optional), swivel and a barrel sinker. The barrel swivel will roll better in the current. I've also jigged them, and drug them in sloughs. You can pretty much use them anywhere Walleyes are. The biggest drawbacks are that they are spendy, and tend to snag a lot. The Willow Cats will actually swim under rocks when you cast them.
They are naturally in most river systems throughout the midwest. I know of people getting their own in feeder creeks and backwater areas on the Miss. |

| My apologies for stepping on your handle- - -That's the name I use on another site. I'll keep it lower case so you'll know the diff. . . .
As for the Willow cats, Everetts wasn't the only one- - -Beanies @ Hudson was stickin' it to'em for $100/doz.- - - - jerr |

| $100.00 a dozen!! Are you serious. I've only paid $5.00/ea. for magnum suckers during times when they are in high demand. That only comes to $60/dz. I would sure hope that those that ponied up made each and everyone count! Would hate to find a few of them dead in the livewell! |

Location: LaCrosse, WI | Cambell,
I agree that you can use them any time, but most of us don't have the means to keep them year round and keep them alive. The other factor is usually finding them in the stores before the water warms. I would think that Walleyes would hit them any time they can find them. |

| What brought that discussion on, I saw a guy buy 12 doz @ Everetts- - -$144 plus tax. I almost dirtied my laundry. After he left we had a ''little'' discussion about it, and Beanies name came up about the $100/doz. Guess I'll stick with leeches & crawlers. |
