First of all wishing each and everyone the best of Memorial Day's throughout our country. Realizing and being happy about all these great people who have given their lives for our FREEDOM AND CONTINUING TO DO SO.
Water temps. running between 55' to 60' with the upper Bay showing really good signs of new green weeds.
Common weeds and elodia, coontail and cabbage are now sprouting and holding some good schools of baitfish, while cleaning fish this past several days seeing small pin-size minnows about 1 to 1 1/2 inches in length.
Water depths that fish catches are coming from vary from the shallows of only a few feet to 26 feet where we took eating size walleye.
Best bait presentations and drifting with floater jigs,harnesses off bottom bouncers. Tipping with crawler pieces and whole crawlers
and leeches also. Trollers using cranks too taking some fish.
Most all the anglers now working the water are fishing for Walleye but did see one fisherman still catching some nice Perch in the narrows off the Gladstone Harbor using small minnows and still some wigglers.
Smallmouth Bass to becoming active in the rivers and shallow rocky, sandy breaks throughout the Bay. Tossing tubes and spinnerbaits are good bait picks.
I had the pleasure of fishing with Tim and Stephanie from the Chicago areas for several days and also Mitch, Nathan and Anna Marie from the Kansas City, Missouri areas.
Here are several photos and happy fish catching smiles;
