I am coming up to Green Bay from Iowa and I was looking for some general info on where to fish Green Bay this time of year. Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately your timing is bad, info is going to be scarce since the last MWS tournament is Sunday September 9th. Lots of teams are battling to make the Championship and for team of the year.

I will post what I know after that, but it may be too late for you.

Just trying to be up front.

Thanks for the honesty. I am heading up this weekend, luckily.

Guest, as of last weekend the bite was tough. I know of guys that struggled on the lower part of the bay, and the central part of the bay was stingy too.

For numbers look to the lower part of the bay, where you can stil have a shot at a big fish. Crawlers and cranks are both working.

For the central part of the bay crawlers and cranks are working as well, but you'll be fishing big fish bites and less often being bit. But the cats and sheeps always seem to cooperate in both areas of the bay.

Good luck.

There is a lot of water there and lots of structure. Get the Hot Spots maps and target the community spots. There will be room for everyone.
Start at Dykesville, south of Sturgeon Bay. You can cover a lot of water in the south bay from there. Key on trolling harnesses and meat up in the column. Try to hit the marks you see. We had fish up to 27" to 28" class everyday we got out.

We went our first time this Summer and had a blast. It's like an Erie-LIGHT. The
fish were in pods but not massive pods.

Then head north (even if you find fish South) and check out the reefs on the
east side and the islands. Try to spend some time off the water and enjoy
the sights, hospitality and cuisine. Not a bad burger in Door county. Use blow days to tour the Door too. We decided this was our scouting trip and we learned a great deal both on the off the water. We will be back!

Most people here will talk in general terms. I will try to narrow your search down a bit.

Up until last week there was a good bite at Chamber's Island on the North side reefs, at Horseshoe Reef, near Hat Island and near Strawberry Islands on the respective reefs. It's my opinion that those fish are still in the area but not as active, so it will require alot of search and work, but that's what makes it most worthwhile when you do find them.

I also wouldn't count out the Michigan shore, as that area starts to heat up about now too. In most places the best fish have been taken on spinner/crawler rigs, but from time to time, big crankbaits will work too. Good luck if you go and let us know how you did.

I have heard and seen that some of the salmon fisherman that have been fishing out in front of the menominne river have been picking up walleye while fishing for salmon on spoons.

I had a similar question to Limitout, how do you specifically target Walleye on the Big Pond with all the competition ? I mean you name it it is there and hungry Musky, Northerns, Sheepshead, Whitefish not even talking about salmon and Browns. Please give out a little secret and do you pick up the occasional trophy Perch and Burbot?
Thanks Guys
