Anyone out there that has a 17 foot Mr Pike with a 135 Merc of any kind whether it be a Verado, Opti, or the old style 4 stk? What kind of top end and performance do you get out of them?

I have an 18' with a 140 Evinrude and can get only 40 mph 2 people. What prop are you running and what hole is your motor mounted in?

I have a 18 ft Mr. Pike with a 150 etec. It will touch 50 mph with a light load. 47 mph with a standard load. I believe I have a 19 pitch aluminum prop. I really like my pike. I have heard that Lund dropped them this year. hhmmm

I had a 2002 Lund Angler SS with a 135 Merc Opti. 23 Lazer II, I would get 54 alone, half tank of fuel, and 5400 RPM. Full tourney l;oad, I'd get 49-50 at 5200 RPM. This boat was the same as the 2001 Mr Pike 17. It weighed 1130 lbs. I think the newer Mr Pike may have weighed a bit more, so may be a tad slower. Good performer overall. I think the LazerII was not the perfect prop for my boat, but it wasn't terrible. Great hole shot.

Do the Stingray Hydraboards help top end like they advertise or should I completly forget about something like that....I went 44 the other day in my Mr Pike with a 115 Yami by myself and a half tank...Im down to around 40-42 with my fishing partner...Ive played with props a little but would a Stingray help?

I don't think they help top end much. They do help the hole shot.

I think you are probably seeing the best you're going to with that combo. I knoe several guys that have the 115 on a 17' Mr Pike, and they get about 46-47 alone. The midrange motors drop off a lot more when you add another person, or more weight.

Thanks Shep, so in other words I just need to decide whether to trade boats or stick with the one I got. I was thinking maybe the same boat but the newer with the IPS 2 Hull instead of my 2005 with the IPS hull and then bump my motor size up a notch...Any input?

Not sure that the IPS2 adds any speed. I think that just adds strakes to deflect some of the spray downward.

A bigger motor will definately add speed! Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go? hehehe

I guess speed doesnt really bother me. Ive been pondering a new boat, and wondering if I should stay with a 17' with a 135 or a 18 with a 150...Would I really gain much over the 17 by going to the 18...I have plenty of room in my 17 footer...I just wish Yamaha made a 135 or thereabouts because you cannot put a 150 on a 17. Anyways, just wondering if between the bigger motor and the extra strake that I would have a better faster ride? Also Lund discontinued the Mr Pike for 2008...that kind of hurts my feelings!!!!
