| I'm new to trolling and I'm looking for advice on which line to spool my reels with. I'm running Off Shore planer boards, and I would like some help with what kind of line to use. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

| Jake, I have 12 linecounters, 6 spooled with Trilene 10# XT and 6 spooled with 14/6 Berkly Fireline. 10# XT is what most trolling books base the dive curve on so it makes it easy to determine how far down your baits are running. 10# XT is also fairly cheep for a 3000 yard spool and will last about 1 season of reasonable use. I use my fireline reels when I am trying to get a bait down deeper (over 15 feet), but never shallow because it has no give. Purple Skeeter |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | Plain and simple, for 90% of my trolling applications, it's 10 lb XT. I haven't found a reason to change yet. When I'm trolling in rivers I go to Fireline. |

| I also use the 10 XT. I screwed up though when I bought it this year. I bought the clear, for the first time. I can't see it out beyond 20 or 30'. Previously, I ran the green, and can see that much better. I don't respool completely. Just the first 400' or so. Strip it off till the knot stops the stripper, retie to new, and put on 400'. ALl reels spooled the same that way.
I use fireline in the rivers only. Both with and without leadcore. I hate fireline with boards! But that's just me. Lot's of guys like it.
