Is North South considered Lower Bay enough?

This fish was caught by my son, Eric, on July 4th. Betwix the reefs, up high. My standard Gold on Gold. That was the biggest we caught that day, but we did get another dozen or so 19-22" fish. Some lower, some up high and on top of the reefs.

ok....the forecast says 10-15 mph south winds tommrow. Questions are....Is it worth the trip up to fish the Gaeno's reef area with this wind or is it too rough for an 18 foot boat? AND is this a wind that is good for the bite?

I just dont wantr to make an hour and a half trip just to be blown off.

Thanks in advance.

Guest,

I was out there today and it was calm. That being said, the fishing was tough. There are some eyes to be had, but they seem to be farther north. I really didn't mark many fish either. Usually I see some marks behind bait fish and only saw that once or twice today.

My general rule of thumb is add 5mph to the forecast. If they say 15, I plan for 20. Good luck if you go. I hope you do better than we did.

I fished on Friday for 14 hours and it was not a good for me. The entire South bay was covered with weeds from the storms and I had to drive all the way to the East side to fish. Ganoes reef was unfishable as was the center of the lake. I caught 2 small 20 inch Walleyes in 14 hours on the water. I spent almost every minute reeling and cleaning lines.

I would not recommed fishing Ganoes area of the bay for a couple of days until the water clears up.

Wind over 15 mph on the bay makes it very hard to fish. You can still fish it in an 18 foot boat, but it slow as you go and it makes it tough to fish.

The shallow bite at Ganoes is not happening this year like in past years. This should be the best part of the year to fish there, but the warmer water has caused the weeds to top out early and it is almost impossible to fish this year. I've spent lots of time there in the last 2 weeks and the weeds make it very unpleasant to fish. It's much better to try right out in front of the Suamico river in 8-20 feet if you want to run harnesses shallow or try running deeper.

My good buddy "Little Nephew" called me and said that he had an itch to fish the Southern Bay. So I loaded up the boat and headed to Suminco Landing after picking him up today. The first three hours working the deeper water off of Gaeno's produced nothing. We headed strait across to the east side and had very consistent action the remainder of our time out. We caught 8 and kept 7 for his frying pan. Nothing real big but missed 2 very nice fish that I wish I could have seen.

All fish were caught on Tommy Harris blades and a couple on the Eyeliminator spoon setup. Purple blades were the best color and they liked the big number 7 colorado's. We caught fish at all depths but two ounce bottom bouncers worked the best.

Talked with a guy at the landing that stuck it out in front of Gaeno's and he said that the fish turned on there at noon.

Purple Skeeter the weeds out deeper were not a problem today with just an occasional clump.

Weather man was wrong about the strong gusts of wind and it laid pretty flat for almost the entire time out. It was a beautiful day to be out.

Saw all kinds of baitfish and arcs all day. Fish were very spooky and hit very very light all day.
