Member Posts: 22 Location: oshkosh, WI | Been busy lately but managed to get out on thursday. Was really rough but it was the only day I could get out so I fished anyway. Hit a real shallow reef by my house and managed to catch my limit. All the fish were between 14-17.5" long. The water was dirty and the weeds were horrible. Got them on jigs and slip-bobbers. Another reason I wanted to fish was to give Rich's Drop-N-Stay a real test. It really did work and my anchor held even in that crap. The ride is smoother and I did not seem to take as many waves over the bow with it on. It is not necessary every time out but when it is rough it will sure be nice to have. BTW, chartrueuse was the best color.

Member Posts: 1195 Location: Orland Park, IL | Wow, the clarity was tough on Friday. And with that north wind, thought the reefs would be puttin out better. Fish seem to be scattered. Sat the clarity was better, sunday was the best. Probably improved two fold and the south wind helped. Lots of perch out there, and a few walleyes. Trolled for awhile in the mud with no luck but lots of flies.

Member Posts: 2300 Location: Berlin | Glad it is working for you bud. I have been very busy with it lately and the website has gone through some major changes. I definately would like to get some feedback from you guys here at Walleye First so check it out at http://www.drop-n-stay.com I am also pleased and excited to announce we are a sponsor of the MWS (Midwest Walleye Series). We will have more details at the rules meeting this Saturday. As for a report, I have not been out at all lately but I have heard of some nice walleyes being caught by a lot of the perch fishermen lately. Looks like the rock bite is turning back on just in time for this next tournament. Edited by Rich S 7/29/2007 9:54 PM

Several of you have asked me about the condition of the lake right now and the answer is that it is very green and weedy in some spots and in other spots it seems pretty clean. One of the keys right now to finding fish is to first find clean and clearer water. We have been trying to fish all over the lake right now, and the best water seems to be along the east shore in and around Winnebago Point. The north end is very weedy, and the west shore is very green right now. I fished on Sunday night from 3-8 pm and we had 17 walleyes, several smallies, several sheepshead and zero perch. We had to move only once today to get on fish. It was not a fast and furious bite, but the action was enough to keep you interested and I was with some good friends as well. We used 1/16 oz. jigs and also crawlers as our bait. There was one boat next to us that had a nice sized walleye and he told me that he was using leeches, so it looks like I will have to be trying those this week as well. I want to thank Steve,Chance and Jennifer for a great trip and also a great sandwich on the lake. Chance is a die hard fishermen and he did a great job tonight. It was so cool to see him getting the net, taking fish off the hooks and tying his own gear on. He never put the rod down the entire night, and we had to force him to stop fishing and eat a sandwich. Nice job Chance, and I hope to see you again real soon. Ok so you want a report on where to go and where not to go, so here is what I know from the past week.................... Trolling is real hit and miss this past week. We have had luck on cranks at almost every depth one day, and then the next day, we cannot catch a fish. The weather will help us out this week though, as it is supposed to be hot, but stable all week. Stable weather is always a key when fishing bago. Cranks of choice have been Flicker Shads, Wally Divers, and T-stick Jrs. Best colors seem to be anything bright colored and also perch colors or walleye colors. We are running cranks anywhere from 25 to 100 feet behind the boards. This week I am going to really concentrate on harnesses and Scootchie Rigs, and see if we can get them to go on those. Stevens Reef has had a lot of boats here in the morning and most seem to be perch fishing. I was just off the north end of it on Saturday and I marked a ton of nice fish there. The outer bar is doing well for both perch and walleyes. Most are slip bobbering. I was on there Saturday evening and we did not catch a fish, but the boat next to us was smokin them. I was not real happy to be not catching fish, but glad to see those three guys having a great time catching walleyes. Blackbird reef is solid boats right now and most are slip bobbering for perch. This has seen a lot of action and the perch are really holding here. Point Comfort seems to be holding some walleyes just north of it. I had a few reports of trolling doing well here. I will be fishing this area later in the week. Abrahams Reef is putting out some decent perch in the early morning. Gold hooks and a split shot tipped with a cxhunk of crawler seems to be the ticket here. I have seen a lot of boats drifting and jigging over haystack and mansur reefs as well, but i have not seen many fish getting caught. I also had a good report from the third reef in fond du lac that there was a good school of both perch and walleyes there all week, and the quality size was very good. I have not seen many people trolling in the deep mud on the north end or along the east shore, but again, i think water clarity is a huge factor here. That is all I know or heard for the week, but feel free to get a hold of me during the week as I will be out there everyday this week.
