Member Posts: 213 Location: Forest Lake, MN | Imagery I did up for Doc. Each image's scale was reduced to fit for it. Right click - view image should open each image in your own photo program. WarrenMN Edited by WarrenMN 8/13/2007 11:53 AM Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Member Posts: 1406 | Warren, are you throwing these into Map Create and overlaying a Navionics or Lakemaster depth contour? If so could you please put up a single image of one with that so we can see what it looks like. Some of us are not so technically savy! I would love to do this with a high structure 400 acre lake in northern wi, Or even Eagle Lake in Canada!!! Good Luck Tyee

Member Posts: 213 Location: Forest Lake, MN | No, Map Create is kind of an animal unto itself so you can't import this kind of stuff. Most of the data I get is in one of a couple formats that aren't readily supported with recreational software and come in large to some times huge data files. For example, a couple files I down loaded for Lake Peck were in the gigabyte range, one in particular was over 3 gb. Not some thing you just down load. Then I usually cut what I get up so all Doc sees is what covers water and this lets me make multiple smaller files, 1 to 10 mb, so that they load and run faster. Also while cutting up the file I've found ways to enhance the images. Bruce has two programs for running the imagery showing his real time position on them, Global Mapper and Fugawi. Fugawi is the easier of the two as it automatically picks which images your over and puts a cursor there and with a key click you can cycle through multiple files. You may have noticed there was coverage in two film formats, natural and IR. He can click on an icon and the program moves to one or the other. They have a more expensive version now that lets you display contour lines from your Navionics cards over the imagery, but I haven't tried that yet. Not much need sitting here. You can down load imagery from different places but I buy much of my stuff from the USGS. Many times too if you have the time to, as I call it, data mine, you can find imagery on states DNR sites. http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10371_14546---,00.html or other state agencies. http://relief.ersc.wisc.edu/wisconsinview/form.php http://www.lmic.state.mn.us/chouse/naip03mrsid.html Again, you need a software that can read what ever file format their stored in. In some cases I'll buy unrectified air photos and do it myself. As for Canada, good luck. WarrenMN
