Surface temp on the lake was 69 today. Not sure if there's a magic number but that's still pretty warm.

On another note, the water has cleared up dramtically since I was last out 10 days ago. Haven't seen it this clear since early spring. Might have to break the crawler harnesses out again.

There are whitebass starting to show up on the breaklines near the mouth of the river. They are big fish and I seen them myself. Guys had about 40 and they were really happy. Its starting and should be good till ice up.

The fall fishing does not draw a major amount of fisherman. They are out doing other things. But, to answer the question, yes, you can catch them as well as walleyes from the bridge. Go see critter or woodeye at Critters bait and woodeyes bar and grill in winneconne and they can talk abit more about the whens and such.

Denny,

Any reports of eyes mixed in with the whities? Are they coming on minnows?

The white bass came on wolf river rigs slowly dragged back up current along the breaklines. Minnows from Ma's bait and tackle seemed to do the trick. They caught ZERO Walleyes. I am sure they will come but it will be awhile yet.

If you hit it right, you may find schools of WBass chasing baitfish along the the west shore around Stoney Beach and south on Bago. We hit a few today, but missed the main action. Most any spinner cast into the fray of diving seagulls will produce some nice sized WBass. It is hit and miss to find the school, but great fun if you get on them. Fast and furious.
The temp on Bago today is around 60degrees.
Take care,
Jim O

It has always been when the waters of poygan are cooler than the waters of the wolf. Then they start moving in.

Say, would you be interested in a early november walleye tournament on the Wolf? I have been approached to run one and don't know if there would be enough participation.

Thanks for asking Denny.

I think that would be a great idea. I and others do have some annual trips planned to areas like Bay de Noc but if I'm free COUNT ME IN.
