One of the tentative sites for the 2008 FLW Tour is Mille Lacs. There is word that they may have to move that event.

How about some guesses or show your preference for where it should go?

I'm thinking Lake Winnebago at that time of year should be great, but there is the issue of a 4 day event in Wisconsin and whether the DNR would allow the permit.

Not going to be any inland water in WI, until the get rid of that stupid rule. Or, perhpas the FLW should change the format for one event, and make it a three day deal, and everyone fishes all three days.

Wonder why they never have a eye tourney on Leech Lake?

I'm pretty positive they would never change the format just to fish in Wisconsin.

Shep, Leech Lake would be a good guess.

Just to fish in WI? Just? hehehe I would think they would do whatever it takes to fish in the Great State of Wisconsin! Remember, when you say Wisocnsin, you've said it all!

I don't recall a PWT and certainly not an RCL/FLW on Leech. I think it would be an awesome lake to hold a tourney on. The only problem is that darn one rod rule!

The PWT has been to Leech 3 times from what I can tell...

1997, 1998, and 2002

See, that's my oldtimer's acting up. But still, Leech would be a good event, I think.

Leech lake's walleye fishery was in shambles only a short 4 years ago, many of the locals blame the commorant problem. Until that place has a chance to recover, it wouldn't make a great "tourney" destination. Unless you enjoy watching half the field blank.

I'd love to see 'Bago in June, then again. I'd love to see the FLW come to any inland water in WI. Makes me wonder what we need to do to get the ball rolling to change the rule?

When the rcl was here, they got by the rule by restarting a second tourney for the last 2 days. Not cumulative, I believe anyhow. Now its cumulative.

You'd think the local politicians would be all over this! But then again, they are politicians. Not the brightest bulbs on the tree.

I know it was talked about after the last RCL back in 02 that they kinda got around the rule, but that they(RCL) would not be allowed to get away with it in the future. Had nothing to do with cumulative weights. They didn't switch to that format for several years after the last Bago RCL in 02.

It's a dumb rule. I'll have to actually see where this is written in the law. It's kind of wierd that that would basically be the only rule regarding tourneys on the books.

Stacker I'm not sure on the permit side, but you are correct as a two day cut off. I fished it as a co-angler and discoverd how nice of a guy Dan Stier is.

I also wish they would consider Green Bay in June. Great bite, plus no concern over battling with the Merc or Otter Street for attention. I supposed though they won't run two events (bay de Noc and Green Bay) on the same water, even though they are seperated bya state line.

Not to stir the pot but why is it the WI boys think that every major pro tourney should be held in WI. Get real and compete in some other states will you. How about holding some events on the Columbia river or Henderson harbor. Maybe we could sort out some of the home boys that have to fish their home waters to finish well.

What the heck ever happened to Devils Lake? Every pro you talk to seems to enjoy going there, and loves fishing it, and everything technique has a chance. I dont get it...I also agree that there should be more tournaments out west. Fort Peck, Sakakawea, Columbia River, Sharpe, Oahe, whereever! It seems like all the Great Lakes tournaments all the anglers are doing all the same things granted there are some huge weights which is awful fun to watch, and be a part of Im sure. Please dont take this wrong, im just trying to see the big picture, because I can finally afford to fish as a coangler, and wanted to go to Devils Lake and now they arent going there.

How big in acres do they typically like for a lake to host an event?

If you're talking acres, it's too small. Think in miles.

Well, since acres is the standard reference measurement for lake size, I'll stick to that.

With 100+ boat tournaments, typically you are stuck to the larger acreage lakes and river systems, so people aren't crawling over each other. Mississippi River, Missouri River, Great Lakes, Winnebago, Mille Lacs, LOTW, Devils Lake.

What I don't get is when there IS an opportunity to go to a smaller body of water, like during a championship with only 50 boats, they don't take advantage like the PWT did with Milford and Madison Chain (See this year's MWC, FLW Championships).

Instead they are both needlessly on Erie which will certainly result in at least one blow day. I think a fall championship somewhere like a Big Stone Lake, Minnetonka, Waubay or similar would be awesome.

PWT was at Cass, and that is not a huge lake. Forgot how many acres. I think the PWT has tried more different lakes than the FLW. Madison Chain was a pretty good success for the Championship when they had it there. I think both tours should try to visit one new body of water per year. PWT went to the Goon. Pretty risky, but I heard good things from the experience.

I guess you missed my point...?? Sorry, about that. I should have been more clear. I said the same thing as you....only with fewer words.
