Subject: Bottom Bouncing and Slip Bobbering

I picked up a new rod for slip bobbers, an 8'6 med action steelhead rod. Rated for up to 1/2 oz. My intention was to use this rod for slip bobbers and not really anything else. It occured to me that this could be a good rod for bottom bouncers and slow death rigs. Anybody use a steelhead rod like this for those applications. Weights of over 1oz I would use my Daiwa Wilderness trolling rods or my Mojo Crankbait rod, but for lighter weights I am hoping this will suffice.
