Subject: Moving my locator back and forth

On my new boat I have a GPS/Sonar combo on the console and a Sonar/Down Imaging unit on the front.
The boat isn't rigged yet but they are in the process of it. I would like to be able to move the Down Imaging unit back and forth between the console and the bow.

How would you guys do it? I am thinking of either just having the 2nd transducer in the back and having a split put in. Or would I be better off having a transducer on the trolling motor and one in the back for the 2nd unit and avoiding the split?

Or would I be better off putting in a switch so that when I have the Down Imaging unit on the console it uses the transducer from the GPS unit(if that would work) and the GPS unit is just a GPS in that case/ then when I move the unit to the front there would be the cables there for the transducer on the trolling motor?
