Subject: Interesting Aim event No Doubt!

well. took a ride with a buddy of mine yesterday to look over the east shore of Baggo. as we drove down to the waters edge we picked up a fast mover running south. after careful observation and moving down to a closer beach we figered this was not an Aim boat but may possibly a Bass Angler. (not sure if there is anything schedualed this weekend)
but.. WE Got the ich... so at the last min we ran back and got His boat out of the shed! drove to oshkosh and put in... Fished the lake for a wile and came up empty. WATER Was 41 deg! too cold! needs to hit fiftey and it will be time.
the DNR was shocking the shoreline south of the mouth around Stony. they had about 14 walleys in a quarter mile stretch . Half femails and All spawned out. Thats it though.. NO garbage fish and no pan fish.. Shallow water only.
so as we moved up the river to do a little fishing and see if any of the heavy hitters could be spotted we stoped to fish a comunity honey hole..
we watched good hand full of fish get caught over the next few hours and boated 3 ourselves.. couldnt get the fish to the net for some reason.. Bites yes and i would say a half dozen lost half way up or at net time.. All Small fish for us!
I would think with some more time and fine tuning as we didnt have our virtical jiggin or fly pulling gear we would have boated 7 tournament keepers . obvously its easy with no tourny pressure on the line.. there was one tourny boat fishing the aria and came in about the time we did and he got 5 but it would be hard to sit in an aria all day going threw small fish durring an event like this knowing who you are up against. As the weights came in i was serprised nobody came i with a couple females and a limmit in the aim event.. 12 lbs and 11 lbs catches in years past can win this time of year often.. and it holds true..
After thinking about water temps dropping about ten deg in a couple days and post frontal fishing conditions after the big snow and a bit of dirty water making a trolling bite tuff in the upper lakes i guess it all adds up even in a river system..
I cant wait to see the results at the end of the day..
a few buddies are driving to Critters to partake in the festivities. i may hafta join them. i know the food is good and the beer is cold.. i have some pressure on me to get some struts put in my daughters car today but i think i should hitch a ride.
