Member Posts: 34 | It was smooth sailing until this morning. With one minute to go before official take-off time, FLW Tournament Director, Sonny Reynolds called a delay due to a small, yet intense front moving through accompanied by lightning, wind, rain and wind. A scary looking wall cloud brought in the storm, but fortunately for the top ten anglers, it only lasted for about 30 minutes. As soon as it was deemed safe, Reynolds called for the boys to “Saddle up!” “Lightning has been known to negatively affect the walleye bite,” says second place sitter, Keith Kavajecz. “But, the fish we are on are relating to wood and they typically work better after a storm than rock fish. I am confident we will still find the fish we need to put together a solid limit.” Kavajecz’s teammate and nephew, Chase Parsons was chomping at the bit to get going knowing the first pass at his primary spot was one of the most essential passes he could make. “The first time through my spots each morning has yielded some of my biggest fish of the tournament. I have never had the kind of confidence that I have now and I know if the bite is anything like it has been the past couple days the fish I need will be there. It’s going to be an exciting day!” As expected this final day is going to be shoot out with 4 pounds separating Chase Parsons (1st) from Tommy Skarlis (4th). As with any tournament, especially reservoir walleyes, its anybody’s game at this point. The weight-in this afternoon will be as exciting as any thus far during the 2011 FLW Walleye Tour. The official weigh-in will be preceeded by the National Guard Soldier Appreciate Tournament at 3:30 PM, followed by the Top-10 weigh-in at 4PM. It will all go down at Walmart located at 1730 Garfield in Pierre, South Dakota. Stay Tuned! WalleyeFIRST Tournament coverage is brought to you by Lund Boats, Mercury Marine, Lowrance and JJ Keller Fishing Team/The Reel Shot!
