Member Posts: 1382 | Lund /Mercury Pro Ron Seelhoff told WalleyeFIRST in a taped interview this morning he only needed 4 bites in nine hours. He was confident in his boat control driving the new Mercury Opti Max 175 HP Powered Lund 2010 Pro tiller, and felt he was "in the driver's seat." He was right. Holding off a strong charge by second place Final Day Yar Craft/Yamaha Pro Sheldon Meidinger, Ron trolled his way to the win, the coveted Angler of the Year Title, and the E Cell Heavyweight award for a payday in excess of $102,000. He took the win by a 2.31# margin, breaking the mold on Mille Lacs by trolling cranks and leadcore most of the Tournament. http://walleye.outdoorsfirst.com/play_flash.asp?clip=522 Larry 'The Snowman' Snow took third with a margin of almost 2# over Marty Glorvigen(4th), John Bergsma(5th), and a bit more over Jeff Taege(6th), and Doc Samson(7th). Danny Plautz, Bob Probst Jr., and Ross Grothe filled out the Top Ten. Many of the fish were taken "corking", another word for slip bobbers. Reports of fish in 2.5 to 5' of water were common, as were those of fish on the breakline and deeper. The slot eliminating any fish from 22" to 28" on the best 23" to 27.9" water in Minnesota made for a challenge and plenty of three fish and two fish baskets as the Pros shot for the fence. Doc Samson staged a tremendous comeback today taking two over the 28" slot. The Top Ten from the Super Pro circuit are headed to Canada at Aiken Lake Lodge for a very special event, the Aiken Lake Lodge PWT Celebrity Shootout to benefit the Boomer Esiason Foundation. See the release here:http://www.esiason.org/pdf/AikenLake.pdf The top thirty Pros from the Super Pro field are headed for the PWT Championship in October, held in Bismarck, North Dakota. The final PWT Regional next week in Escanaba, MI will determine the balance of the PWT Championship field. Congratulations to Mr. Seelhoff, who has now won nearly $650000 in on the PWT during his career. Congratulations also to Chase Parsons for his strong final day basket to make the Big Show, and Danny Plautz for a strong finish qualifying him for the top thirty and the Championship.
