Member Posts: 198 Location: Gladstone, Michigan 49837 | "June 20th. Sunny morning on the Bay, quiet," last several days showing some pretty stiff winds and mixed in rain/storms. Water temps. running around that 70' mark both upper and lower Bay. Noticing lots of schooling minnows and fry telling of a good production from the spawn this spring. Again fisherman concentrating on the breaks containing weed growth as well the flats of the upper Bay are seeing some catches of nice fish. Crawler harnesses, floater jigs along with 1/8 and 1/4 ounce leadhead jigs tipped with live bait (crawlers, leeches and medium size fathead minnows) artificials including "glup" and casting smaller size crankbaits (shad-raps, x-raps, jerks) catching additional fish. Colors for all baits; perch, blues, matching fly hatches, oranges and chartrueses. Seeing roaming Smallmouth Bass on the sand flats on the west shore from Gladstone south to the Escanaba River chasing minnows. "get a chance as either boating or driving along the western shore line or the highway you'll probably get a chance too seeing the pair of Swans with their little ones!" Pretty neat, Here's one nice Walleye we caught and released yesterday while working weeds, using floaters and jigs.
