Location: Rhinelander | The skies are cloudy this morning, much to the relief of most of the Pros WalleyeFIRST talked to this morning. The fish will bite all day. but many had a shallower bite going that changed yesterday with the high skies. Temps are forecast to be in the high 90's today again, with the possibility of a thundershower this afternoon, so the skies will clear and the sun take over before the morning is out. Rigging and trolling Cranks are the tactics talked about most this morning, and when trolling cranks...losing LOTS of lures. It's not just the tree's overall old canopy that is now underwater that is an issue, it's the one tree that sticks up 10' higher than what used to be the canopy that catches the presentation and causes a lost bait. The majority of the field are working flooded points, a structure element Bull Shoals has plenty of to allow everyone lots of room. Stay with WalleyeFIRST for our signature live audio and video this afternoon at 5 PM as the weigh in begins just up the hill from the Bull Shoals Boat Dock. Gee, Ol Jimmy K will be sending out employment resumes if he can't get more fisherman to show up . 50 some PWT fisherman isn't jack squat and won't pay the bills. This might be the beginning of the end for the PWT.

Location: Rhinelander | Another consideration is the distance to Arkansas for most of the Pros, the big jump in fuel prices, and the general slump in the consumer sector of the economy; not to mention the well publicized flooding down here. I know that the Flood publicity cost the field a considerable number of boats. One thing for certain, the level of competition is top shelf, and I bet the Pro's sponsors are happy to have the publicity generated by this event. Contingencies alone will allow the winner to take home more than any MWC event, so the payday could be pretty good for the anglers running the right products.

Steve, What is the payout for this event? 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. Also, how far down are they paying Dave Landahl Fishing Fanatics Radio [email protected]

Member Posts: 1382 | 22k for first i believe, not including contingencies from Lund and Merc, which would bring the total payout for an angler running that equipment to 46k.

Location: Rhinelander | The near carbon copy weather today didn't seem to change the bite much, as the top ten from yesterday moved some, but for the most part stayed within striking distance of the top three. The big move was made by Dave Anderson with the heaviest basket of the day. The top story is Bill Ortiz'z limit weighing 17.17# moving Bill solidly into first by a little over three pounds over Day One leader Jim Orcutt. Bill has scored well on Bull Shoals, taking a recent PWT win on the big Arkansas reservoir. Here's the top ten: 1 BILL ORTIZ 2 JIM ORCUTT 3 MARK BRUMBAUGH 4 JON THELEN 5 TODD RILEY 6 DAVID A ANDERSEN 7 JIM MUZYNOSKI SR 8 DAN STIER 9 DAVE ANDERSON 10 STEVE BOHN Watch for the Final Day morning interviews and images over your second cup of coffee at work tomorrow! Member Posts: 1040 Location: Stevens Point, WI | No, he got rid of the tiller. When I asked him about it at the PWT championship at Saginaw he said it was a business decision. He said for what he does he likes the console model more.
