Location: Appleton wi | Anyone else having intermittent occasionall issue with live well? Any solutions?

Location: Rhinelander | Probably a new pump cartridge. Try cleaning out the old one first in case you picked up some fishing line or the like. |

| I have the same problem with my livewell pump, sometimes I need to just loosen the cover on the pump while it's running, after that it works fine, this is my second pump and the original pump did the same thing. Once you stop, try going in reverse with the pump running, that's worked for me before. |

| I get that once in a while, try cycling the valve on the gunnel back and forth a few times, if not loosen the pump a bit. My Lund always did this and somedays it would take foerver to get it to go, air rises to the highest portion. |

Location: Appleton wi | It only seems to happen in rough water and after a longer run. unfortuantly its happen twice during crucial time.. I'v tried going reverse and switching the auto/drain/recirc and there never seems cure it. Seems like you mess with it and give up and try it 15-30 minutes later and it works! Its defintly a vapor lock. |

Location: mille lacs, mn. | Try running the "recirculate" cycle for a minute or two right after you stop. That should prime the system and force most or all the air out of the lines. Also---If there is drain valve/lever of sorts---put the system in to the "drain" mode for a gallon two of livewell water and that also might "back prime" the system and force any air out of the line between the well and the lake water intake.
Most of the time...it's not the pump. As Kirt said, a hose configuration issue might be the problem--no doubt. The more direct the lines get to the intake, the less potential air-locking issues there are.

| Another "little" Tuffy design problem. There is a plastic cover over the pump intake on the transom. This traps air making your pump cavitate. I drilled a small hole in the top of this cover to let the air escape, end of problem. |

| Ummm.. how is that a Tuffy design problem? I do believe many other manufctures us that same device?
Interesting idea though, you should email the maker of that pick up system
