Reading some reviews the newer Accudepths seem to be very close to the Sealines. I have the older Accudepths and one has a issue with letting out line but people have stated that the newer news are pretty close to the Sealines.

So what are your comments?

If they are pretty close, why change if it is not broken. If you are comparing to a proven product why switch.

Rich,

Stick with the Sealine... Accudepths still have the problem with letting the line out.  I tested the new model at Cabellas a few weeks ago by putting 10 yards of line on, then applied pressure and they still don't release under pressure.

I ran into the this problem a few years back on my first outing with 6 of the old style Accudepths, when running board and the reels were under pressure, you could not reach down with one hand and just flip the lever to release more line.  It was a two handed operation and that does not work when you are trolling by yourself!

I have two of the older models and two of the new. I have never had any problem with any of them. I usually use them with inline boards but also use them with bouncers. For some reason though, I didn't like the older ones as much as my 4 Sealines, they just weren't as smooth. The new ones work just as well as the Sealine for me and I would (and will in a few days at the BPS sale) definitely buy more.
Hey, try one and see what you think!

Well today I was up at BPS and tried out the reels and the new Accu still had some play in them. It varied from reel to reel since I open a couple boxes and tested them out. Problem is I do not want to try them, I want to buy a reel and have it for good.

Although I am a firm believer in the premium LCA, LC, Great Lakes series and have over 20 of them I picked up a 57 Plus and two 47 Plus, the 47's for dispey's and the 57 for salmon with full core. I got to use them for about 3 months last year and I have to say they perform just like the LCA Sealines, I got into some steelies and large walleye and the drag's work great, the clicker is about the same and they crank about the same and I had no issues with that whatsoever. I think they are onto something with this mid priced reel and I know alot of other guys that have them and no issues so far. When I was fishing on Ontario I talked to some charter captains and they really like them for salmon using them for riggers to wire divers. If they are good enough for them and 20-30 pound kings they will sure work well for a walleye reel and I completely agree. If your on a budget they are great and blow any mid priced Okuma out of the water.

I have 6 accu depths and never had any issues just like my 8 sealines never any issues. So not everyone has problems with them!

Comparing the Auudepth to the Sealine series is like comparing a Ferrari to an Alliance. The Sealines are twice the equipment the Accudepth reels are. I've used Accudepth reels twice and will never use them again. Stick with the proven winner.

The new Accudepth reels are completely different from the old ones. I have 4 of the old ones and they are junk, I was going to buy sealines until I tried the new accudepths. They are every bit as good a reel as the sealines and perform exactly the same. I have a friend who after using the new accudepths sold all of his sealine reels, bought the new accudepths and spent the extra money on harnesses and blades.
