HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE A BAD TRANSDUCER ? I CAN HEAR CLICKING SO I ASSUME IT MUST STILL WORK. I TESTED MY X510C AND AT HIGH SPEEDS IT FREEZES UP AND WHEN I SLOW DOWN IT STARTS TO WORK AGAIN. I UNHOOKED THE 510 AND HOOKED UP MY LMS AND PUT IT ON FULL SONAR AND AT HIGH SPEEDS IT DID THE SAME THING. THE DEALER PREPPED MY BOAT BUT I STRONGLY THINK THAT THE DUCER COULD BE TO CLOSE TO THE MOTOR.??...I'M PLANNING ON MOVING IT AND LOWERING IT. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS IN ADVANCE. B.JAY. P.S. BOTH UNITS WORKED LAST SUMMER.
I KNOW THE DUCER NEVER MOVED IT'S IN THE
EXACT SAME SPOT AS IT WAS LAST SUMMER.

Yes, it sounds like your transducer was either not mounted in the correct spot or it was mounted to high or low and is geting air bubble interference which is causing the errant reading. Take a look on the Lowrance website for recommendations on mounting your transducer and see if yours coincides with what is recommended.

I'm with jerry on this one. I was having a similar problem w/ my x67c so I lowered the transducer about 3/4 of an inch and effectively solved the problem. The original mounting position was too high so when I was on plane I was creating an air pocket around the transducer. I had originally mounted it according to the instructions so that it was just below the line of the hull but the instructions don't necessarily take into account each boat's unique ride.

COULD IT POSSIBALY BE THE POWER CORD ? MAYBE A SHORT IN THE WIREING?
COULD IT BE A BAD GROUND ? I'M IN A WHEELCHAIR SO I HAVE TO RELY ON PEOPLE TO COME OVER AND CHECK THESE THINGS OUT. I TESTED IT WITH A BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX TRANSDUCER AND IT DID THE SAME THINGS. THANKS GUY'S FOR THE SUGGESTIONS.

No, if the power cord was bad the unit would not work. It definitely is in the ducer, based on what you are saying the issue is.

hey jay, great info on the transducer... you may have set the sensitivity too low to read at speed... check your settings...

O.K. -----I ALWAYS USE AUTO SENSATIVITY. I HAVE IT SET QUIT HIGH. WHEN I GET TO A SPOT THAT IS DEEP AND I WANT MORE DETAIL I'LL TURN IT UP OR DOWN MANUALLY. I HAD A FRIEND OF MINE COME OVER AND HE SAID MY DUCER WAS WAY TO LOW AND RAISED IT UP FOR ME. I'M HOPING THIS WILL END MY TROUBLES. I MAY HAVE TO TAKE IT OUT SEVRAL TIMES TO TWEEK IT. IT MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN BUMPED. BUT ALL I KNOW IS THAT LAST FALL MY SONAR WORKED FLAWLESSLY. I HAD A BUDDY OF MINE SEND PICS OF HIS SET UP AND THEIR SET AT AN ANGLE. HE HAS A LUND AND I HAVE A G3. THE HULLS LOOK SO MUCH ALIKE. LIKE I SAID IT MAY TAKE SOME TRIPS TO TWEEK ON IT. MY FRIEND CHECKED THE DUCER CABLE FROM THE STERN TO THE UNIT AND FOUND NO CRACKS OR CUTS ON THE CABLE. THANKS FOR THE INFO. B.JAY
