Well looky what i found, I was searching the net and thought ..."there has to be local forum for walleyes.." Lo' and behold here it is.

I'm new to the GB area, moved from Steven's Point, prior to that Spooner way and before that Ashland, and was hatched in Racine.  so i've traversed the state some, all the while fishing.  Grew up Salmon fishing then when i moved to ashland i fell in love with Chequamegon Bay and big eyes.  in spooner Shell Lake and became intimate.  Then the WI River in Point.  Although i fish other species,  non can compare to eyes.  I always seem to fish for 'em even when another bite might be hot.  I 've always thought people that fish for bass and pike do so cause they can't catch eyes, and muskie fisheramn don't like cleaning fish, did you hear a die hard ski fishermann say " I didn't catch any but i saw one."?

I'm looking forward  to fishing the bay this year, maybe even do a little salmon in July and Aug.  I'm still in the learning process. the idea of running boards is new to me, althouhgh not foreign, rememebr I grew up in Racine, salmon fishing. I've been accumaliting gear for the bigger what and should be rigged by open water.

Here's a WI river eye.

Welcome. We all collectively do our best, despite recent assertions anonymously to the contrary, to keep the place neat and orderly and even friendly, sort of. Then Stacker or Sunshine or Purple Skeeter or Shep or Redneck Tech or that ilk post, and it all goes out the window.

WELCOME BUD!!

You just found yourself the biggest pod of knowledge when it comes to walleye fishing. What is so cool about this site is that everyone has a seperate area of knowledge and are eager to share. The only thing they request is take a little knowledge and share a little of your own, you will be suprised on how someone will say man, I never knew that, that will work in my lake.

Take care, stay safe and FISHON!!

Welcome phishy, your going to see some of the best walleye fishing ever this spring and summer. For trolling Use crawler harnesses. If those don't work then use crawler harnesses, And if you still don't have any luck, switch to crawler harnesses. Color can be critical. I'm usually a bago and poygan guy. I don't get up to the bay in April because the Tuffy's usually ripping walleyes on the Wolf at that time. Good luck.

I almost forgot Phishy, you might read some quotes from a guy named Stacker on here. Could be a good guy for info because I heard he caught a walleye on the bay last year one time.

Welcome aboard. You've found a great resource with a bunch of extremely knowledgable anglers. Just a little helpful tip on using this site; extract as much information from these guys as you can during the winter months, they tend to get a little, err, tight-lipped once tourney season starts.

thanx!!

Looks like i may have found what i am loking for.

today I spent da day traversing along the east shore looking for accesses so i might get on the ice a bit, bought some maps, stopped at a few bait shops, picked a few brains, bought some more stuff i didn't need but felt obligated since i was asking so many quetions. never can have too much stuff...just don't  look in my garage or basement, had some late lunch and a great bloody mary, more looking for accesses, all in all a very productive day, i now know where henderson point, volks, red banks, and etc all are can't wait to pull da boat out of storage and start putting on the rod holders and other gear that i thought i needed, it's going to be a long winter fellas, a real lon \g winter, may as well a make the best and start reading some more past posts

if you ice fish good luck, i'm heading out in the AM and hoping to score on some whitefsh. start small first, i need to figure out where the eyes reside under the ice...someplace i'm sure, but i need to research it first

 Later,
