Member Posts: 2393 Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | I have spent hours and hours looking through an Aqua VU on Green Bay and Bay de Noc. Yes, I have learned a lot. The biggest thing I've learned is a better understanding of interpreting my unit. I have also saved valuable time while prefishing for a tournament when I thought I was on to a school of walleye to discover that they were suckers. It was also very interesting last year to see the massive school of bait fish in Green Bay. I wish I had it hooked to a recorder at the time. Just one possible heads up. Some people get a little sea sick looking into the camera for extended periods of time while trolling. I'm fortunate that this doesn't happen to me but I have friends who miss out on the action. It's easy to get hooked at watching, at least for me. It's like walking on the moon and discovering new frontiers. Most people only view the bottom because it's difficult to learn or train ourselves how to determine where the camera is while using it for suspended fish. Get the longest cord possible. At least 100 feet. 60 is too short if you're trolling in deep water at good speeds. I've used mine as deep as 47 feet on clear waters of Green Bay. I don't use mine on Bago because the water WAS just too dingy to be helpful. BUT, it may be worth trying again (been several years) because of the improved water quality/visibility.

Member Posts: 2393 Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | I run my camera off the back, opposite side of kicker. My reasoning is that if I watch the sonar (especially if I'm alone) I can see things on my sonar unit and then look for them on the camera.

Member Posts: 2300 Location: Berlin | I have found if I run the camera off my front cleat (same side as the transducer) that at slower speeds I can actually mark my camera so I know exactly what depth it is at.

Bago in June??? NOT! not even in 3 feet of water your best view is 1' if your lucky later in June, you might be able to find some clear water early in the month! I have one if your interested. It is great right in front of a t-stick about 10' behind the boat! use the camera as you would a downriger ball with a quick release with only a foot or two of line beyond the camera and hook up your video camera watching the bite is so cool! Good Luck Tyee
