went out today with my dad and friend from 10-6.we got skunked today.my dad snaged a small walleye and a small sturgeon. i lost a fish and had a few bites. all the gates are open at the dam. people were catching a few fish here and there but it slowwwwwed way down from last weekend. should only get better from here on in. at least it was a nice day out on the water.

Very slow fishing today. Wasn't as brutal as I thought it was gonna be. Managed 1 small Walleye for the effort today. Water temps are from 36-38 degrees from the dam down to Indian trails road.

Yes he's been posting on lake link too. Don't have that kind of time to put in. Some people work for a living. LOL!!!!!!!!!!! :)Back before I had kids I would be there every day or every other day. Now I go with my boy when I have the time.

have been doing pretty steady casting cranks after dark guys seem to rely on live bait with emerald shiners and river shiners being most productive for both walleyes and crappies

When they hit they just hang on and very seldom will you get a rip out of the shoulder tipe of strike

Lyubaka,
Nice to see you post! Love the pics, looks like a great time. Do you find that ticking the bottom with the cranks earlier in the evening is better or worse than later in the night! Or don't you contact it at all?
Good Luck

Tyee, thanks. I know I have quite a few cranks at my expense but i do value them quite much so I try to stay away from "contact" when using cranks as you see I stick to Floaters and husky Jerks as well as Shallow Running Shad Rap's so they get me less trouble, the nests of Fireline and other braids are another story with the more fished waters though :(... Still knowing the bottom and full neoprene waders helps LOL

When I plan to make it a more "contact" sport I bring the 9wt with a dropper weight and also a pocket full of 1/8-1/4oz jigheads and Twister Grubs, but then I stick to mono... Nothing new I know but it works for me.

Tight Lines see you on the water (when I am not babysitting)...
Any thoughts on Pre- and Post- Rapala STORM cranks which ones do you guys think are better?

It is getting pretty close to icefishing here but still some open water eyes are around to be had (this generally is an understatement as most diehards do not winterize the spinning gear on the river)

Also to enjoy a couple pix from a client from Bulgaria Zander Fishing The Danube River.

I'm thinking about heading there the last weekend of April with my dad, but I've never fished this area before. I'm a little hesitant to take my boat out since I really don't trust rivers much. Therefore, I was wondering how dangerous the river is in this area as far hitting something, and how fast is the current right now. If the river is too risky in the boat we might just go from shore. If we do go from shore I'd appreciate any heads up on a place to start out at. Thanks for helping out a newbie.

There will be a TON of boats over there at that time if the weather is nice. Go slow and fish the same general areas you see the other boats in and you'll be fine. The water doesn't get shallow until you get below the cable a 1/2 mile or so.
