Hello, I curently have a 619 ranger and I was looking around at some other used boats. I found a Tuffy 2060 that I was rather interested in, however I wanted to see what some people who own Tuffy's think about them. First off I was wondering about how dry Tuffy's are compared to the Rangers. I know my ranger is quite dry when planed out but tends to soak you at slower speeds. The other concern I have is, I was inspecting a picture of a Tuffy today and it apears the councils are seperate pieces attached to the hull and not molded in as one piece. I was curious if anyone has had an issue with these not holding up as well as councils that are one molded piece. Thanks

Member Posts: 1991 | Well you are going to get someones opinion why Ranger is better, but I will tell you about my Tuffy Experience, I have a 1890 it is exremely dry and smooth, I would say it rides better than many 20' boats, the guys that have the 2060 tell me they are smoother than my 1890 WOW!! Allot depends on the driver and how you are driving it, but I dont wear a rainsuit when I am driving in my boat at slower speeds. Yes the consoles are seperate, I have had mine since the fall of 06, no issues at all with them holding up nor with the hull. I dont think you would be dissiointed, go for a test ride. Were you located? The Mississippi River is open in Red Wing, I know a guy who has a 2060 for sale, Brett??

Location: Rhinelander | Many of the high performance Deep V hulls have gone to bolt in consoles. No radius to crack, and tough as nails.

Member Posts: 1991 | One other thing, these boats are awsome in big water and waves, you need some reeaally big waves to take water over the bow

New User Posts: 2 | Thought I'd chime in here as I had the chance to fish w/ Brett for 2 days at the AIM championship on Winnie. I'll first admit that I am a Ranger owner (1860 Angler), but I thought the Tuffy was a great boat, rode very well in the limited amount of waves that we had, and I thought it fished very well (tons of floor space for a dual counsole boat). I liked the storage quite a bit (of course w/ a 20' boat, you get more than the 18 1/2 that I have). If I hadn't just bought my boat last year, I'd be seriously considering buying this one. It is in great shape and Brett is a 1st class guy, you'd be getting a heck of a deal on a nice boat. Tony H

Member Posts: 149 Location: Appleton, WI | I have fished many tournys out of a 2060 Tuffy and I got to say WOW!!! That boat is one dry ridding wave cutting machine!! BUT..... It is a narrow boat, If you fish 2 guys in the boat it is perfect, 3 Guys not so much.. Unless your 3 very close friends. (or small and skinny). look at the dimmentions for your self the 2060 is olny 90 inch beam your Ranger is something like 97 or 98 inch wide, Big differance!! Dont get me wrong the Tuffy is the ultimite go anywhere anytime you want to fishing machine!! But you have to give up a little to get that. I love the countless hours I have spent and will spend in the future in my partners 2060 Tuffy but when there are 3 going out we usually take my boat.

Member Posts: 3899 | Even at 90", the 2060 floor is wider than the 619, 620, and 621 Rangers in the back. You lose a lot of floor space in the Rangers due to the side compartments. Yep, you have more storage with those, but you lose floor space, and they are hard on your knees when it's rough out. I don't like 3 in the Rangers, either, while trolling. I've been in some huge waves in the 2060 on Green Bay. Waves that I would not go into with my 1890, even. I was never worried about my safety. Remember Zach? My suggestion is get out in Brett's boat when you can, and see for yourself.

Member Posts: 38 | Tony how ya doing bud ya ready to get back after them this year and are you doing sone AIM`s? If so we should do some pre-fishing perhaps I`d like a re-match on the lesson`s you gave me ![]() Big O thanks for bringing that up, I had this discussion with Justin last night explaining to him it is narrower but I feel because of the storage boxes that are built into the Ranger I feel the nod goes to the 2060 for space??? Not pickin on anything just a good open discussion here as both have their pro`s and con`s as dicussed.I have fished in plenty of Rangers as well and while I like the storage space I hated the boxes being in the way, I guess it`s all the give and takes of boats.

New User Posts: 2 | Hey Brett, going well, although I'm already sick of winter, can't wait for some open water. I'm still not 100% decided on tourney's this year, but planning on 1 or 2 AIM events, probably Green Bay & Winnie. Would definitely be up for pre-fishing, and a re-match any time, although I should probably quit while I'm ahead ![]()

Member Posts: 921 Location: Manitowoc, WI | Shep you must be talking about the Spring Fox River Classic in 2008 when I was behind you and Zach after the other boats turned back to the river at the mouth. Our 2060's mirrored each other wave for wave and boy was that a test for the boat and boater alike. Winds howling out of the Northeast on Green Bay can be very interesting. Member Posts: 3899 | Yes, that one. But I'm talking about later around 10 AM, when the waves were even bigger. We left U Bay, and headed out the channel and above above Frying Pan Shoal!
