Does this mean that they heard the rumble, or have they felt the competition? Either way, it will make some folks happy and Ebay a little worse off
Take care,

Schmitty...Are you sure that they are using the original molds on the DJ's? I've heard conflicting reports from reliable sources. Jim Carroll NPAA #588

I've also heard conflicting rumors but have to believe that Normark has given Storm (and family) all the necessary time required. (I'm sure this was worked out in the buyout?) I think its unfortunate that people think Normark was to blame for the "t-stick fiasco" they had to design for the storm lineup when they took over.

Has Dave released his color lineup, Does anyone have the time to put a spreadsheet together? maybe I will cause I will find it difficult to get enough from the wife to buy them all at once!!! Anyone venture to guess on what price will be in say year 1,2 and 3? Heres how I think they'll come out,

Year 1
Normarks. T-stick-5.99
Daves-4.99
Rip Lipper-3.99

Year 2
Normark 4.99
Dave 4.99
Rip Lipper 2.99

Year 3
Normark 4.99
Dave 3.99 (Gradually being overrun by huge conglomerate with more marketing dollars)
Rip Lipper-Gone .99 bargin bin (to sell rest of 1st. batch inventory)

Dave, I would be more than happy to by my first batch from you, Are they available yet, Heard in January sometime or are we waiting for the price wars?
Good Luck

Normark owns the old DJ, DAJ, AJ, J, and XJ molds. They came with the purchase of Storm when they bought them out. I do not know if they used these old molds to produce the upcoming lure line. Here are a few facts:

The Storm family wanted to continue to produce the Storm lure line under the direction of Normark. In discussions leading up to the sale of Storm, they were given the impression that this would be true. Most of the family members, along with the assembly line staff, were believed to be staying to continue producing lures under the Storm name for Normark. Shortly after the buyout, Normark discontinued the line, as the parent company didn't believe a plastic lure could be produced that was worthy of their parent company name. The decision to discontinue this lure line was soley Normark/Rapalas, not Storm.

The color lineup for Daves Lures can be found at www.daveslures.com. If you have any questions, send them to me as I am working as a pro staff member. I believe there are 34 different colors of the new Deep Nitro Shiner line. There are plans to create more lures of different designs in the future. These plans will be made public sometime in 2004.

The Storm lure line being produced by Normark/Rapala is no longer connected to the Storm family in any way other than name. When they bought out Storm lures, the purchase included the naming rights to Storm lures. Thus, Dave Storm's products are called Daves Lures.

Prices for the above mention lures, and this is a guess, should be as follows:

Normark/Rapala Original Storm version: $3.99-$4.39
Daves Lures version: $4.29-$4.99
Yes, the price of Daves lures should be slightly higher.

The Lipp Ripper line, and this is second hand info, not my experience, sounds like it was a total failure as they filled with water not long after thier use. If someone wants to buy the ones I have for $2.00 each, I'll pay the shipping and send them to you.

Finally, the Daves Lures line will feature more than just the DNS and the Winning Streak in the future. More lures and different lures are in the future. As I get the information, I will give updates here on WalleyesFirst. The Normark/Rapala line was supposed to come out by Dec. 30th but I haven't heard that retailers will have them by then. The Daves Lures Deep Nitro Shiner will be available sometime in late winter/early spring, with March 1st being the target date.

Jerry, Thanks for that great info. What is Daves marketing strategy that puts him higher than Normark? more colors, better paint jobs? orig mfg family? If Normark is using Orig. molds, at 3.99 how will he compete? Reputation amongst professionals is one thing but to the average Joe and his pocket book, he'll go to the more readily available product! Can you enlighten us on this?
Good Luck

Not sure on the price though.

Schmitty,

The stuff you typed was as I heard it from other Rapala pro staffers. Looks like we'll be needing some more Plano #3700 boxes!!! Thanks for the update Schmitty.

Tyee: I will ask my contacts some of the questions you raised and will get back to you ASAP.

Don't forget the Lip-Stix that Jack's Internation has been selling for some time now. Although he only had 15 colors as of now, no prisms yet, they sell for $3.99 plus shipping. The Lip-Stix is a replica of the Storm DJ. His web site is http://www.jacksinternational.com Type in Lip-Stixs in search box.

Bought 8 lures for $34.67 which included shipping. Also received a Wiggler lure and a package of snelled hooks for free.

I did a little talking and what I`ve been able to find out is the first of Normarks shipments will be out after the first of the year. Look for these to be in your area stores very soon.

I talked with the guy at Jons Sportshop in Oshkosh who is the one having the Lip Rippers made and he has a new company to make the lures. He told me to bring in any of the ones that did not work right and he would replace with the new ones. He had some in the store that just came in and they looked pretty good. He claims that the problems with his last supplier will not happen with the new ones.

Hey guys one thing to remenber when your at the shelves choosing lures this year normark is FORCING most tackle dealers to buy the retro storm line or they won't sell them the rest of the line. How fair is that?
