Location: Manitowoc, WI | Well, I've spent a good amount of time working various areas of the rivers and lakes we call home. So far, I've found alot of small fish but not many over 17". I'm hearing the same from everyone else too, as the post spawn females are proving elusive up till now. On Thursday, I managed to boat 4 "weigh fish" with the biggest a 23 1/2" post spawn female. Today I concentrated in some other areas and managed some small fish. I can assure you our fishery is very healthy, with a ton of 12-14" fish.
I'll be on the water somewhere every day from now till the PWT ends. If you see me, stop by and say hi. |

Location: Oshkosh | I think you all will be surprised of the big fish brought to the weigh in. I know of a couple guys who are on 6 pounders. I won't say where (I don't know exact locations anyway) but it will be interesting. |

Yep. With so many good fisherman probing the lakes it is a given one or more of them will find the big girls and bring them to the scales!  |

Location: Oshkosh, WI | I saw many confused looking people in fancy boats yesterday. I was out in my SeaRay bowrider (ski boat, no electronics) with my 9 year old fishing a break in the river and I asked a fellow that appeared to have a flat screen television depicting the bottom contours if they were marking fish on the break - the guy in the back of the boat was shaking his head no while the guy in the front was saying yes, once again proving the old adage, "you can tell they are lying when their lips are moving." |

| This cold front on top of the natural cycle will tell alot about the guys fishing this event. I still am of the opinion that many of the weights will not have any females included.
As I said in the other thread, 41.5 lbs wins the big show, and the man that wins it will probably be running a TRACKER, and his name is BILL!! |

| Somebody will be on fish. Now, maybe they already are, and just hoping they stay put, or maybe they will find them today or even tomorrow morning. But I believe several of these guys will have great bags of fish. Just too many good sticks out there not to have some of them figure out a pattern. |

Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin | There are a lot of nice fish in the system, but few of them are in a biting mood much before the end of May. Yes, somebody might catch a couple nice fish here and there, but consistent catches of big female walleyes in the spring during the day on Winnebago are not the norm. Tournament weights start out in the 10 to 15 pound range in April and get larger until June/July.
Gary won the last PWT event on 'Bago with a little less than 60 pounds. To me, its not realistic to think anyone will come close to that weight now. Given the speed restrictions on the Wolf, my belief that the lake spawned last week, the weights I have seen from all the tournaments on 'bago the last 8 to 10 years, and the fact that spring weather is never the same for 3 days in a row, I think its going to be difficult for anyone to average more than 10 to 15 pounds per day.
But hey, I've been wrong before!!! |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | I was there prefishing with friends last week that are in the PWT. Some big fish are being found by some. BUT, I'm still not sure what this weather will do with those patterns. I'd doubt that what was starting to work is still working now with the winds, fronts. thunder and cold temps that are expected. My guess is that the person who does not panic will win. The guy that knows what spots will still produce during this weather pattern. Looking at the weather, I'll guess that the weights will start out small and will continue to get bigger as the tournament progresses. I know where I would be on day one but I wouldn't stay there for three days if I was going for the win.
I'll predict a local boy wins whose been through these conditions before. |

| Should be interesting, as usual. The "local boy" prediction is probably a safe bet. With the weather predicted and the bite-from my source-being as it is. A local guy who can pull a limit every day with a kicker or 2 will win it all. Between 38-40 lb will be the winning weight is my guess.

Location: Sherwood | I would say Brad B has it figured just about right. The weather isn't doing anyone any favors and on top of that it's a time of year when it can be tough to put together any kind of consistnet pattern on this system. I guessed about 40lbs for the winning weight on the other thread but based on what I know now I would drop that by about 4-6 lbs. We'll see!?!
Hey Brad, I hear you were fishing with my brother at Depere last week. He said he schoolled you pretty good on the jig bite. That true? |

| Fishing was indeed tough today. A coupe anglers located some big fish, just not in numbers. Jay Jannay, for example, had two fish which were good enough to put him in 6th place. Look for pictures of today's PWT event soon.

Location: Oshkosh | Yeah, I'd like to retract my earlier optimism... The guy who was on "6 pounders" blanked on day one, which just goes to show how brutal the fishing conditions can be (especially during tournament time- coincidense?) Still, I agree with some of you who think the weights will get larger everyday. In a relative sense, the weather has stabilized, maybe enough that some of the bigger fish will start to feed.

Yes, your little brother caught more fish than I did, but ask him who caught the biggest fish, who paid for his lunch, and which one of us lost their truck keys (albeit for just a short while...)
