After a few stories I heard about how rough green bay can get, how are you guys fastening down the kicker, securely, for those extended travel periods in rougher than normal chop? Wondering if a bungee is good enough. Typically, I trim it to the top, and leave as is.

Never had an issue with the T8 and I've been in some real tough water, but I've seen my fair share of the panther lifts flip the motor right over.

I'm curious as well if anyone has ever had an issue with the T8 so I can be safe...

Thx

Yep, you're right no issues with the T8, but better safe than sorry.

I also have a t-8 and fish Green Bay all the time never had a issue with the motor kicking up only thing i do is use a bungee to keep the handle up right because my kicker is hooked up to my main motor and in rough water it wants to flip down on me makes steering to hard

I continue to believe that a Bracket Pro is a cheap form of insurance for the kicker...

Bracket pro is a good support, but isn't needed with the ProKicker. Not sure if it is, or will work, with the T-8. I've seen the T-8s survive some pretty rough waters.

My "older" OMC would be at the bottom of "Lake X" by now if I didn't have a Bracket Pro. I can't believe the "beating" a rough day on the water gives to a "tilted" kicker... Just watch one of the videos like the new FLW DVD... Oh man...

The FLW League championship was really tough on T8's. I saw several broken T8's.

I have run pretty hard the last 2 years on the bay and I have my T-8 attached with nothing more than the factory bolts and the turn down levers. When I'm running, I just trim it all the way up, no other tiedowns and I've never had a problem. On more than one occasion, I have looked back to make sure it is still there and I'm amazed at how strong they have designed the bracket. Anyone who breaks a T-8 off is way over abusing their boat in general.

Here's the website....

http://www.hnet.net/~bracketpro/index.htm

It is pretty cool... you just tilt your motor up and the barcket drops into place under the motor... tighten down the starp and off you go...

At least that is how it works for me and a few of my buddies who have them mounted...

Found another solution via Jason Wrosch my MWC partner. He put a strap on the underside of the motor, and with a pin and spring clip attached it to the mount on the boat. This way there is NO movement when the kicker is in full up position. Thought that was pretty slick.

Yeah if you want the T8 to "self strap" like the Merc Pro Kicker for extra insurance just pick up a Pro Strap from Panther or make your own with a ratchet-strap cable-tied to a bungee.

HG, I would think that using a Bracket Pro with a T8 negates the purpose of getting a T8 in the first place, which is not having to lean out over the back of the transom to strap down the kicker.
