Walleye Fishing -> Walleye Boats and Motors -> new to site

I'm new to the site first time today. Basically appears to be the same as some others. However, one thing that is very obvious to me is the site appears to be a pro-manufacturer site. Personally, if people aren't allowed to share their honest problems with equipment, I have no use for this board. On other sites, people are allowed to share their experiences good or bad and the bad ones are usually interrogated by others to see if there is any truth to the matter. Doesn't appear this is the status here. That's honestly too bad.

considering you are new to this site how could you make that observation? I have seen in the past 6 years or so many good and bad things said about all sorts of fishing products, boats motors, fishing rods, line you name it. But if you are comming to this site and expect the same old pi##### contests you see on other sites I think you are in the wrong place. Kitch

Welcome aboard, sir.

First and foremost, show me anywhere we are 'basically the same as the others'. Video, radio, huge still photo archives, blogs, the World Walleye Rankings, top shelf event coverage, and much more. We are not message board driven, and we are actually pretty happy with the atmosphere here.

Second, it isn't what is said, it's how, sir. There's an acceptable way to discuss product problems, and an unacceptable way. Look at the Daiwa thread on the main board, that one is describing a problem, and will generate methods of solving same. No bashing, no calling the product names, no attacking the company because of emotion, just "Hey, I have this problem, anyone have an idea what to do?"

Problems can be discussed and solved, and folks from every portion of the business; consumers, reps, customer service people, and more feel comfortable working together on the board to solve a problem, thank someone for a compliment, discuss new products about to be introduced, join us in an industry night seminar, etc. Debates can be carried on without personal attacks, anonymous bashing, and ridiculous banter designed to perpetuate the argument instead of find resolution or common ground. Look at the article archive, and click on some of the indusrtry chats. I work in the business, and I know the attitude many indusrty folks have about some of those 'other' sites. WalleyeFIRST will never aspire to be classified in the same specie, much less genus.

I guess the first thing that I saw was the post regarding bullet's issue with his tracker in the dusted posts. Not by any stretch of the imagination was there a legit reason to dust it. I have no qualms with tracker personally. I don't know anybody personally whom owns one nor have I ever been to a dealer. I am however looking into a new boat and am canvasing the net looking for good and bad things regarding all boats. Dusting that post in my opinion is extreme sensorship. There wasn't an ounce of liable in it from what I could see. Just a person stating an issue that he is having. But it's your site and you can do with it what you want. I guess you have to play by your rules to be a member of this club which is fine.

Let me take a big stab at this.........you are either bullett or his friend and he wants to keep this ongoing debate about Tracker and his post going? Am I close?

I hope I am wrong, but it would be too coincidental if there wasn't some truth to that statement. In any event, welcome to the site and hope you can find some of your boat questions answered here.

Actually I'm not. I have been a regular on Walleyecentral for 5-6 years. Until today I didn't know this board existed. The reason I found out about it was from bullets post on walleyecentral where he stated his dismay of his post being nuked over here. Since I hadn't heard of this site I thought I'd take a look. Of course the first thing I checked out was the dusted posts. Issues with alot of boat problems from numerous manufacturers are hotly debated on walleyecentral all the time. Most of the time the issues are getting resolved because of the site. Sometimes, the people making the claims turn out to be full of you know what. But it is openly debated there and people take them to task if there is anything that sounds unreasonable. I guess I assumed the same would happen here but aparantly not. Which is fine, I honestly don't have a problem with that. I didn't make a post to sound hostile, but rather to make a true outsider opinion on the board. I will spend some more time here and see how things are. Maybe I made a poor knee jerk reaction. I hope so.

Welcome Chad,
As you've already experienced this board is similar to others in the way that some people will assume you have evil intentions even if they do not know who you are.
I'm sure the two people who blasted you as being a mole are very nice people they were just stuck in a rut over a post that didn't sit to well with them and reacted hastily. While it is unfortunate, who amongst us has not said something they later regretted.
That being said the people here will bend over backwards to help out a fellow fisherman. There is alot of good information on here for our local lakes and river systems. plus alot of information that will be of use for other fishing locations. like you have stated we may not agree with the moderators it is their site and they can run it as they wish. We are welcome to come and go as we please so if we are turned off by something we do have the right to discontinue participation.

Hi Cheese,
I live in ND, but I have an aunt and uncle in the kohler, sheboygan area. I've been to Plymouth a few times. Beautiful area. I intend to come out and do some salmon fishing on the big lake this summer. My cousin used to do some guiding on the lake so he will hook me up.

Funny you mention U-Charters "Sorry Charlie" Cheesehead, Because Randys first mate is the guy who is causing everybody to loose sleep over a simple post about a problem he's had with a certain boat manufacturer. He also holds a captains license and I would bet he has more time and experience on the water than most on this board so don't dismiss him as some jerk who just wants to bash Tracker.

Whatchutalkinbout Crank?
I was in no way dismissing Mike, He is a friend of mine also. As amatterof fact he is always taking a bunch of garbage from me.
I've known about his transom problem for a few years already, It's one of the reasons that I did not buy a tracker boat.
I also have met Randy a few times that is why I reccomended them. They are friends and they know what they are doing. I'm sure the other charter captains would do a good job also but I don't know them.

I guess I would consider walleye first the fox news of the walleye internet world. "FAIR AND BALANCED". I personaly like this site just the way its run I dont use the other site because of the way its run. Its my choice and I am glad I have that choice. I am glade that people and product bashing is not allowed here. I am also glad that if you have a problem and would like the problem resolved that you can post here and get answers to your problem or routes to the answers to your problems. I personaly think the outdoor first family of sites is doing a great job and would like to thank them for doing so.
