My mercury kicker motor is mounted directly to the transom of my 17" smoker craft. When not using it, I raise it up and use a ratchet strap to hold it down, but it wants to get loose and bounce around when I am running. I don't want to spend the money for a hydraulic mount; what are my other options?

I have a bracket pro and it works well. the real inexpensive version you could take the bracket off that locks it up and put a small 2x4 in there and strap it down.
