Location: Rhinelander | The Classic was full at 75 boats, hosted by Fort Fremont Marine. Tuffy Boats, Mercury Marine, and a host of sponsors made sure everyone was well fed and happy after they returned from the water.
The bite wasn't spectacular, but 51 boats weighed fish. First place team Vndrmaazen and Dexheimer, boat 17, weighed 16.98 for the win, and also took big fish honors with a 5.75 pound 'eye for a check of $1650 and big fish cash of $700.00.
Second was Miller and Miller with 12.57. Third was Olmstead and Spierings weighing 11.7 pounds . Fourth was Georgenson and Knowles with 11.22, and Crist and Akey rounded out the top five with 10.68.
Trolling cranks and spinners seemed to be the method most used, although a few teams were jigging, without much success.
The teams were offered the option of donating their catch to the Weymont Food Pantry, and volunteers were on hand to fillet the fish.
Thanks go out to Denny Fox, Chris and Gina Gasser, and the Fort Fremont Marine Walleye Classic Crew for running another classy event.
