| Just a heads up to those headed this way. Last week, my wife and I were out, and saw the marina staff pulling the marker buoys at the Gladstone Marina. Earliest I have ever seen. Could not get any explanation. Anyway, with the low water this year, the rocks on the N side of the channel (port as you are leaving) are just under the surface. Also, they extend out further than you might expect, make sure to go quite a ways before turning to the north. For new visitors, a couple waypoints or a trail would be a good idea, especially for night fishing. Kipling is also very shallow, not sure of the exact conditions there, haven't been out of that launch. Both Escanaba launches have plenty of water. Good Luck |
