Subject: Mark Meravy and Terry Carr Win MWC Illinois River

Location: Rhinelander

The 87 boat field left on time under sunny skies and cool temps. The forecast looks good, with a high of 57.

The bite was good enough yesterday to ensure positive predictions for the final day. Some of the teams reported the females they caught were 'moving up' and seemed ready to spawn.

Jigs and plastics seem to be key to quite few team's presentations. Some live bait is in use, but reports yesterday were holding abut 4 to one Berkley GULP and similar presentations over minnows. It's going to be a shoot out today.....

The weigh in starts at 3 PM!

Location: Rhinelander

Meravy and Carr won the Illinois River MWC out of Spring Valley, Illinois jigging with plastics. Second were Scott Geitgey and Jay Gullet. Third were Heath Bowman and Gordy Powers, fourth were Danny and Barb Plautz, and rounding out the top 5 were Kevin Dahlauser and Kyle Kneser. Adam and Steve Sandor, day one leaders, fell to sixth.

The Illinois DNR was on hand to handle the fish, and the event was very pleasant to cover. Incredible fish, well run, and the weather was great!
