I think most of you know that given an alternative, I'd rather be pulling plastics all day when running 8 to 10 lines on charters. I've had trips when I've stayed in the back of the boat working lines for over an hour in the hot sun, either netting fish and re-setting lines (which is good), or cleaning the cranks of weeds and other debris (which is bad). And running meat on lines in a water system full of little crawler hungy trash fish, always seemed like a waste of good fishing time to me.

But a couple summers of a tough bite, will change either your mind or your charter business referals in a hurry. And even though my recent baptism into the world of running spoons and spoon harnesses as sliders has raised the catch rate and allowed me to run a variety of offerings (including meat) without to much technique adjustment, there are still times that slow trolling the meat puts more fish in the box on those slower days.

So keeping this quest in mind I have decided to buy a TR-1 Gold auto pilot and mount it on a 8 horse High Torque Yamaha on the back of my Grady White. This will also allow me to shut off both engines after the initial run out, and conserve on both gas and engine life and troll down in the .04 range on those (dead Sea) days when everything is lounging on the bottom.

With all of this in mind, I started searching for new technique ideas along the same lines as the bottom bouncer, snap weight or three way rigs using crawlers. What I found, may be the next best thing since the snap weight. This is not my own product, just one I found on the internet and ordered for myself. Just looked like a fresh idea that I thought I'd share with you all.

Dan,
Reminds me of the weights we used here for perch spinners.
Egg sinker on the wire though.
Some times with the spinner, other times with out.
Beads and swivels, though.
Extra spinner/beads up front got them interested, then the next with the hook about 18 in. behind it.
Tip with a helegramite or crabtail and you would be in bussiness.
Good old days, no perch to fish for, till they recover here.
