The pros reported the bite to be transitional over the last few days with the water warming into the mid to high 50's, and the water clearer than normal. All reported using multiple presentations to put walleyes in the well. All predictions are for a few really big baskets to come in off some smaller spots that are holding transient fish on their way to the Lake.

Most of the Pros WalleyeFIRST talked to were more concerned with 3 solid limits to make the Cut than the big fish wild card.

The weather looks great other than a chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon. It was calm and sunny this morning, but a front is due through this afternoon creating a chance for some rough weather about weigh in time.

Stay with WalleyeFIRST this morning for the day one morning video and images, all brought to you by Lund Boats!

I put my money on Scott Allar or Tom Brunz. They know that area better than most.

Yep, those two guys are solid. Dont forget about Don Marx. He had a tougher league event last week, but that man can fish.

What are those willow cats? Already?

Love the clown baits above. I used the #7 to pull this fish out of pepin last week. Notice the hat....

No there is not. The LeaderBOARD will begin Live at 3:00 PM CST or slightly after though. It is currently raining at the weigh-in site. There will also be some very good weights today.

Hint, Zachowski will be weighing in first and should set the bar fairly high right off the bat ....

Ranger Rick yanks 40.....and three others in the 20 already. The bite must be good. Any clues on where Zach.....as in trolling or live bait???? I'm guessing Deer Island for big saugers along with the normal willow cat bite in Katrina, the Vermillion and the various cuts in the upper river, plus a good bite on Pool 3 trolling the riprap.

Wow, 40 to start it off. That's a super impressive weight. That's the kind of day you never forget.

I heard that about the Vermillion Kirt, but given yesterday's rain and with more rain there today I expect to hear of a few good weights from there.

In 2006 I finished in the top 15 with around a 13 lb average. As it stand now with not even a quarter of the field weighed in 10th place is 17lbs+......that is impressive!!!

Richard Zachowski brought an impressive 40 pound bag to the scales at the FLW Walleye Tour tournament out of Red Wing, Minnesota taking the day one lead by a little more than 8 pounds over Nick Johnson. Richard was first to weigh in, setting the bar high for the rest of the Field.

Scott Fairbairn holds third about 13.5 ponds back, Randy Stevens is in fourth, Jim Preissner fifth, Roy Vivian sixth, Robert Blosser seventh, Lund Pros Ted Takasaki and Perry Good are tied for eighth, and Steve Vandemark holds down tenth.

The bite is anything but consistent, so the word is there will be plenty of movement every day on the leaderboard. 24th place is still well within striking distance if the 'sun shines' on them and not so much on the current leaders, but Rich and Nick have a strong lead, and are definitely on the big fish.

Conditions on the river are improving daily, and the weather looks perfect for tomorrow. Morning temps are supposed to be in the high 40's heading for a high temp of 74 in the afternoon. Winds are to be west at 5 to 10.

Stay with us at WalleyeFIRST for day two interviews and images starting at about 7:30 AM, and keep an eye out for today's big fish video...it's going to be a good one.

Some pretty tough river sticks to round out the top 5. Will be interesting to see if the 9 lb. lead after day one will be able to hold them off.

Hey Komo, how was the Hager Heights chicken?
