Bass & Walleye Boat Magazine used this hull to do a 250 Shoot Out, I think they were all 250 Hp. Suzuki, Yamaha, Mercury Pro XS, plus a Verado. All the results are right there for the taking, plus the Engine Companies Techies did all the set ups. Email me at [email protected] if you can't find the back issue.

I saw the article and it sold me a new 225 opti XS. I have been very happy with the mileage I am getting. So far I can only compare with the smart gage but I am getting 60 MPH burning 17-18g/h which would equate to 3.5 mpg which is pretty good at full trim wide open on a 619vs.

I buy a new 620 every year. My Mercury 250 pro xs is not what I expected. Gas mileage is terrible 3 mpg. It is a 54 mph boat with all gear and two people. Had the same boat last year with same amount of gear in it with a 225ho Evinrude. Boat ran 60 mph and got 4.1 mpg. I can tell you I will have an Evinrude again next year. The merc has been in the shop more than on the water!

Something wrong in your setup, Dis. I see many Rangers out there powered by the 250 Opti, and they run great and get excellent fuel economy. I also am at the service trailers at the events often and can tell you none of the brands are exempt from some shop time. Next year it very well could be your Evinrude in the shop.

Independant testing proved the Merc to be superior in the fuel consumption category by a substantial amount. Have your setup checked including prop and engine height.

Definately something wrong here. I have friends that have the 225 Pro/XS on 06-07 620's and this is nearly a 60 MPH boat, and got great fuel mileage. Another had a 225 Pro/XS on a 06 621, and his was a 53 MPH boat. This year he has a 250 Pro/XS on a 07 621, and this boat is awesome. 57-58 MPH, and good fuel mileage.

What prop are you running? How is the motor mounted, what RPM's are you getting, how are you computing fuel mileage?

What kind of problems are you having with the motor that it needs to be in the shop? Please explain what ihas happened. Is it one thing, or several.

Have you addressed the situation with your dealer? If indeed you spend U.S. Dollars with him every year, he should be able to help. If you are factory direct, you should call them. They all do something for a living, let them.

I just rode in 2007 Ranger 621 dual console with a 225 Rude and the most we hit all day was 53.8 in 70 deg with light winds.

But I'm sure it walks all over a 250 Opti

hey Shep I just ordered a 08 621 with a 250 pro xs, should have it mid september, did you ride in your buddies boat? Do you know what prop he is running and getting 57-58? jackplate? how was the ride overall with mid range power, holeshot and is he happy with this choice.

I'm going from 621 with a 250 rude DI. I expect more power through the range and way better gas mileage. I think I made a good choice on the motor.

Thanks in advance

He is running a 21P Rev 4. No Jackplate. The 23P Rev4 was just too much wheel with a full livewell, and tourney load, even with the large plugs. I think he is using the large plugs in his 21P. Motor is up one hole, I think. I think he has a 23 Tempest for a spare, and that works pretty good too. The boat handles great. Midrange performance is really good, That's where he drives the boat most of the time. He pretty easy on his stuff.

Congrats and have fun with that boat and motor!

Just a guess ... but... I'm guessing that "Disappointed" doesn't really have this boat...but has an interest in Evinrudes somehow or other.

Looks like a "troll".

Shep, Thanks for the comeback, once I get the boat I may have more questions, I'll post them as they come up. I can't wait to get my hands on this new boat. Never picked up a brand new boat, the waiting is killing me to say the least.

I know what you are going through. I had to wait for mine last year an extra three months. I was waiting on a motor deal that fell through. I should have just stayed with Merc like the original plan was! The atraction of a memo deal cost me a lot of angst and time. Dealer acted surprised when I told him that if I had to pay for my motors, I was going to pay for Mercs!

Man 3 months I would lose my mind by then, Ranger told me 3 weeks to build and another 10 for delievery, order was recieved the 10th of August and schedule for the 18 of september. my dealer was surprised on quick it's getting done. I don't think the dealers ordered the new 08's yet and all the pro's have yet to order yet either, I think my timing was perfect. man 3 months, wow how did you even deal with that Shep? LOL

I was a boat slut for most of the year! Fished with great guys like Capt Extreme, Steve Worrall, Zach, DaveJ, Keenans, Tuff Daddy, Champagne, and others. That is how I kept my sanity.

Yep, you have good timing on your new rig. Post pics when you take delivery.

Good way to pass the times while your patiently waiting, I get to keep my current 621 till the new one gets here so that worked out well.
I will for sure post pics when I get it, I'll register before I do though.

After break in and once I get some flat water on Erie or some breakwall running I will post performace. The boat came with a 23 tempest, I may need to come down some to a 21 buddy has one I can try out. I was used to a 21P 4 blade on my old 250 DI Rude, this prop stuff confuses me a little bit.

Thanks ohh and Brad, umm no I think I'll pass LOL.
