| I recently purchased four of the DM30A line-counter reels from Cabelas on sale for a hard-to-beat price. I had the option of either the DM20A or DM30A, and I picked the DM30A because I figured I'd rather have bigger than not big enough. My main purpose for the reels will be for trolling boards on Winnebago and Green Bay, but I wanted them to be big enough for Muskie, too.
I'm wondering if the DM30A is overkill for walleye, or would the motto "the bigger the better" hold true when it comes to reel size? There a little bulky...
Anyone have any experience with these line-counters?

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | If I remember correctly, it has a different gear ratio than the 20. 4/1 vs 5/1. I'd be more concerned with that. I believe your reel will hold something like 600 yards of 10 pound test line. Yes, I little over kill. Not sure if it will hold up to big trolling muskies either. I'd exchange if I could. |
