I was out yesterday from 10 to 4 trolling Long Point Reef, and ended up with one keeper fish.
Everyone I talked to had about the same results....Maybe it was the southeast wind. Who Knows.

I love a good SE wind on Long Point. Usually not too many boats, and I'm able to slipbobber over the reef. I'll anchor off an inside turn, set the stops for 4, 6, and 8 feet, and let them run into the reef. When the fish tell me what depth they like, I'll change the other stops to match.

I used to do pretty good with my old Tuffy tiller, when I could get up on the reef, and pull #5 Shad Raps right on top. Harder to do with the new boat, but I haven't given it much time like that. Last year, when the reef was full of boats, we caught fish trolling off it in 8-14 feet with Wally Divers, and Hot n Tot's. Seems the pressure on top pushed the fish off a little, and they were willing biters.

great post Shep .

I was out on longpoint yesterday . Did not catch much of anything in the morning but things picked up mid afternoon on drops and humps west and a bit north of longpoint . Got lots of short eyes , nothing to brag about but it was fun . I tend to be a jig head so as ussual I draged jigs with minnows across the bottom . They seemed to like yellow best , but orange was working well too . I know I would probably catch bigger fish trolling but I just love to feel the fish tug or pick up a jig and then set the hook

Anyways me and 20 other boats got chased to the launch at about 7:35 when a strong cold steady wind from the north came up .

be happy and well , Cap
