In my opinion, there is no difference between a straight Powerdrive model and the Motorguide Wireless. Now if you get a PD with Autopilot and want the Ipilot feature, then the PD has some distinct advantages. I really like the Motorguide Wireless pedal, it's awesome. I also like the pedal design better on the Motorguide as well as the stow feature on the Motorguide, it's just better. I've also found the Motorguide pedals hold up better than the Minn Kota Powerdrives, gone through a ton of those over the years as well as just about anyone I know who have owned a PD for any length of time. I've never replaced a Motorguide pedal in three years. Both are good motors, but if your comparing the straight Powerdrive with no Autopilot or Ipilot features, I'd buy the Motorguide Wireless, it'll handle abuse better imo!

Member Posts: 625 Location: LaCrosse, WI | I've also had both. I loved my motorguide wireless, but now have a v2 powerdrive with Ipilot. There's no comaprison, the Ipilot blows everything else out of the water. If you don't want an autopilot feature, and strictly want foot control the motorguide wireless is awesome. Mine didn't have universal sonar, which was the only complaint that I had. I went through two transducer cables before I learned how careful I really had to be with the motorguide. I used the motorguide foot pedal at the back of the boat to move back and forth and hold above wing dams. It was much better than the old school power drives. However, I now use the Ipilot spot lock feature and remote, which is even better. That being said, if you think you might ever want an ipilot, then go powerdrive v2. If not, you won't be dissapointed in the wireless motorguide.
