Location: Rhinelander | Wrap up by Erik Osberg for WalleyeFIRST: Sunday, May 18- Otter Tail, MN John & Drake Herd won the AIM Weekend Walleye Series on Otter Tail Lake Sunday. The father & son duo took home $6,200 in the one day Catch-Record-Release event. They said they spent most of their time on a quarter mile stretch of a break line in 9 to 12 feet of water. The day didn't start off great, but when the wind picked up, so did the fishing. "I rig, he jigs" said John. "Shiners, suckers and chubs, all day long. The biggest fish we did catch, we slid up shallow to get around another boat, seven and a half feet of water, pow! A twenty three and a half incher." The team from Alexandria, MN recorded 5 fish totaling 22.41 lbs. Drake added; "It was a battle, we didn't catch a ton of fish, but we seemed to get the right fish." Local anglers Scott Perala & Steve Whiting came in second with 14.93 pounds while Schneider & Schneider took third. The tournament paid out over $15,000 to the top ten finishers. IMAGE GALLERY 1.
