What kind of boat? If you have large gunnels, I suggest flush. If you have handrails, I suggest putting on handrails. It depends on the boat.

Again it all depends, with rails on the boat I'll run rail-mounts, flush mounts make for a nice, neat mount but again its all about what works the best for you. On my new Patriot Boat for this year my intentions are mounting rail-mounts and and on the bow running side mount units. In rod holders we've used Fish-On holders for years with great success. Hey Boogie, Check out the complete line of Bert's Custom Rod holders that are advertised by TR-1 Sales Co. of Michigan. They have flush mounted and rail mounts. Good Stuff. Just click on front page of Walleye First, and click on TR-1 logo. It'll bring up website.
