Location: Rhinelander | THIS was a contest. I spoke with Mr. Gofron and Mr. Martin this morning (watch for a WalleyeFIRST Radio interview to be posted today) and the contest between close friends Brumbaugh, Martin, and Gofron was as friendly, yet as intense as one could ask. Mark Martin said, " I have had a great year, If I don't make it for Angler of the Year, it's OK, because either Mark or Mike have the best shot, and they are both close friends." Only about three points made the difference, and it was clear onstage just how much respect the anglers in contention hold for each other. WalleyeFIRST congratulates Mike Gofron, the reigning World Walleye Rankings Number One angler in the world, for his parallel PWT title as Angler of the Year.
