Well, haven't posted in a long time but Friday was something else. Should have stayed home based on weather forecast but felt the day would be good. Made the 60 mile trek up 14 then over on 82 towards DeSoto. About 5 miles from the river a doe decided to stick her head through my drivers side window. Scared the hell outta me as glass shattered. I somehow managed to keep it on the road as I came to a stop. In addition to my window, she did take out rear quarter panel too but the Towtector stopped her from hitting the boat thank goodness. After a phone call to report it to the sheriff I figured I'd still try a few hours of fishing. Yeah, I know, I should have just turned around then but.... The weather did come as forecasted and the snow piled up quick in the boat so decided to end the day at 10 with a couple of eaters. Boy it was a cold ride home without a window and did get quite a few odd looks from folks as had the fur bomber hat strapped down and the mittens on. I did avoid the numerous accidents and when all said and done arrived home by about 4:00 without further incident.

When you mentioned the deer not hitting your boat it reminded me of a guy that I talked to the other day at the backchannel landing. He had a smaller Lund with a huge dent in the side. He had a deer run into his boat as he was going down the road at 60 mph, not a good deal for the boat and a worse one for the deer. I was out also on Friday. The snow really piled in the boat and so did the saugers, really cool day to be on the water. Loren Waalkens http://www.walleyefirst.com/waalkens

Member Posts: 794 Location: Elgin, Illinois | Well that "action" on Friday didn't extend down to pools 9 and 10... We spent the weekend at Withey's in Lynxville, WI and fished pools 9 and 10 Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We got on the water Friday just as the rain turned to snow... Spent about three hours looking for fish in all the right places... Except the fish were in different places... Saturday, a gorgeous day found us up on pool 9 and again no fish. We talked to a friend from hokme who hadf spent the last 8 weekend fishing pool 9 on the barge and from his boat... He had no clue as to why but reported that the fish shut down Wednesday and hadn't been biting since. He reported on a very feew small Saugers caught by the two dozen or so folks on the barge... Went back to pool 10 on Sunday and again not a single fish... Twoo weeks back we caught 50+ fish in Friday and Saturday on the same pools... Go figure...LOL
