Member Posts: 1040 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Was out today on the Fox River in Depere and I have decided that I need some new rods. What kind and length do you guys perfer? I'm looking to mainly use these rods for vertical jigging and pitching jigs. I was leaning towards 6' for jigging and 6'6 for pitching. I then stopped at Sportsman's Warehouse after I got off the water and they had just about every kind of rod imaginable. Actually too many to choose from. Seeing I'm still on a college budget, would like suggestions of rods running no more than $75, perferably a little less. Here is a list of a few that caught my eye. Any info on these would be appreciated. St. Croix Triumph, St. Croix Premier Shimano Clarus, and Compre Berkley's Series One

Member Posts: 192 | I LOVE my St. Croix rods. I'm not sponsored by them, so I have to pay the same price everybody else does. I do have one Avid Series for jigging and pitching, otherwise the others I have are the Premier. I prefer the medium light action ones. I've never really tried anything else because these always worked so good for me. I feel that they are very sensitive rods. Of course the Avid I have is top notch in my book, but it will be way out of your price range. Johnnie Candle said it best at the Walleye University, this is one rod and reel combo you don't want to go cheap on. Try to spend as much as you are comfortable spending, or as much as your wife will let you spend. HeHe! You might want to check ebay also, sometimes they have some good deals on St. Croix rods. I will be around here and there fishing the next couple weeks. If you want, e-mail or PM me and we can meet up and I'll let you give one of mine a test run if you want. Member Posts: 3899 | I really like my Fig Rigs, I have 6' medium light with extra fast tips for river jigging, and the new Stealth 7' medium light with extra fast tip. Gander Tournanment Titanium rods are really pretty nice rods, for a reasonable price. They have 6' and 6'6" in medium Light, with a really nice tip. Go check them out. I have a couple of the Tournament medium light 6 footers. Had them for several years, and they are really pretty nice rods. Edited by Shep 3/24/2007 6:06 PM
