Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Well, its being stubborn. Word is the ice fills the river from Chicos down. From Fort Fremont Past Gala, through Fremont past redbanks is useable. I do not know from Gills through Redbanks because I did not put the boat in the water. I imagine you can. There is shelf ice everywhere. It is getting less and less. Redbanks tournament is saturday the 6th. The problem is, everytime we start picking up speed on the current, it gets cold at night and the run off freezes. The wind would blow a boat upstream yesterday. I have pics for you to see what it looked like this morn. Lots of shell ice. Member Posts: 15 | It is jammed up from Chico's down from this morning's ride along the river. It's still pretty tight grom Gill's all the way up past Shiocton. Looking at the future outlook for weather. I would say that ice out by the weekend isn't going to happen either. I haven't been around Poygan but where is this ice going to go??? I gotta believe the ice on Poygan is still pretty thick.

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Noon Report From Redbanks bar it is wide open up and down river. There is shelf down river but not much. Town is almost ice free and looking up river from the hook is clear. Down from Fremont there is shelf ice and some pretty good stuff yet till Orihula. At Hahns the ice jam starts and goes past chicos till mid way around corner and then it is jammed tight. There is a slot on one side is open beyond the jam. Cabnnot see farther. We usually do this for april 1st as the ice out date and it is very very close right now, guess it would have been good this year. Who woulda thunk it.

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | The ice upriver from the railroad bridge has been moved about 1/4 mile up. It is tight from there. You can navigate quite freely from gills to chicos. Down from Chico's is anyones guess. water temp this morn, 34.7

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | 4/4 I call ice out, Reasonably safe travel can be had on the river. Few bergs left this morn but I am sure that there are many back waters to yet let loose. As always, keep your eyes open. This is + 11 on the count down.

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | You can now get all the way to the mouth. Word just in. There are not many bergs left so far so I doubt a jam can happen again. From up river the ice is rotting where it sits. Its mushy in northport.

Member Posts: 181 Location: Manawa Wiscowsin | My boat is at my sister's place in Omro for the winter (no cost storage). Before I haul it back to the Wolf can anyone give me some pointers on the upper Fox? Ramps? General locations? Thanks! There were ice jams in the Big Eddy area downstream from New London early this morning. I will check upstream in the morning. Edited by BD 4/6/2013 10:29 PM
