Member Posts: 84 | We spent the weekend fishing the rocks on Bago with slips and pitching jigs. Got our 10 eaters every day, but really had to work for them. Tried a bunch of different spots- shallow, deep, the edge of the reef etc. Really couldn't find a consistent pattern or spot. Crawlers outproduced leeches. temp was 61 degrees on Monday.

Member Posts: 591 Location: in the boat off the east shore somewhere | east shore junk , fished all the top secret spots about 10 , took darn neer all day to pull 8 or 9 walleyes with 3 guys in the boat.. largest might have been 17 inches .. 60 degree water temp too clear.. not too tuff on the west shore but small fish also.. trolling bit seems tuff.. some action over the weed beds ... poygan and butt de morts seem to be the ticket . on buddy made the drive and only got to fish for an hour , didnt even get to run 6 boards , didnt have time. and nice fish.. been like that for a wile now i understand..

Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | Yes bradley, I'm hearing the same thing from everyone fishing Poygan.....quick limits and some nice fish too. I think everything is about 3 weeks behind, with this cold spirng and water temps only around 60-65 on Winnebago.

Member Posts: 591 Location: in the boat off the east shore somewhere | stacker the info on poygan came from late last week before the temp dropped for a couple days , need 2-3 days of stable weather and they will go again.. it was getting better again this morning im guessing but more storms forcasted. the east shore and west shore report was threw the weekend and up to yesterday been about the same.. even the tornaments on the weekend were 5 fish 8-11 lbs....... to win... one thing is for sure , somone always has something going.. but to me it looks like the big fish bite is still in the river for a couple few weeks yet until the water temps come up.. but hey , its all just speculation isnt it.

Member Posts: 3899 | Hey Bill, You can tell me. I'm not fishing the Merc this year, so no worries about me getting to your spot before you. Just want to get out for some eaters with the boy and maybe even the wife on Bago. I get tired of limiting out on Poygan every time. I need my Bago fix! hehehe

Member Posts: 1314 Location: Menasha, WI | I hit 'er last night for a few hours. Could've filled a cooler with whities if I wanted to but couldn't find an eye to save my life. Water temp on the north end is 60-61 and clear as a bell.

Member Posts: 174 | I trolled South side of Horseshoe last night and only picked up 2- 14" on shads. The wind was from the East and shut everything down. The water was like choclate milk. I should have tried Clark's out of the wind.

Member Posts: 1314 Location: Menasha, WI | The lake laid down nicely for some evening fishing and the dusk shallow water bite is still going on the NW shore. Three cookie cutter 17"ers in less than 30 minutes tonight -- #5 Perch Countdown Raps. I thought today's big blow would muddy things up but the water was prettty clear. Vicious bug hatch though -- little white buggers swarming all over, that's why I only fished for 30 minutes. Edited by Viking 6/6/2008 10:57 PM
