That's a great write-up, but it doesn't tell us what we really want to know:

How much are the minnows?

Thumper lets just say.....you'll be pleasantly surprised! You can even check out the tank and see which ones those pesky perch like the best!

Good Luck

I was just there and they have a very nice setup. I would highly recommend that everyone check it out.

I had a chance to pop in today too. Great looking place with all the standard off the rack equipment. The tank is pretty impressive. The staff was certainly outgoing.

I didn't really understand the purpose for a 'lounge' area. Seems like wasted floor space to me; space that would be better suited for the kinds of equipment that you couldn't get anywhere else. I hope they start to carry some specialized equipment and give me a reason to stop there.

Viking Did you miss the rack of ice fishing jigs? I'm not sure where you shop but maybe you can enlighten me? Remember its winter.....product changes with the seasons, glad you stopped in, did you see the prices on all those baits "everyone has"? what about those minnow prices? there are a lot of nice bass baits too you can't get anywhere in the area. Oh and those Dobbins rods?.........maybe you need to stop back in again and take a closer look....hehehe....

Good luck

Hopefully I will be able to stop by tomorrow. It would be nice to see some fish swimming in water.

Rod,

Don't get me wrong, I hope they do really well. I will be shopping there frequently because it's very conveniently on my route home from work. I had a nice conversation with Marc today, and as I said above I was impressed by the customer service (hopefully, that will continue).

Let me give you an example of why I was a little disappointed. Given that it's a specialty store, I assumed there would be more stock to appeal to the 'hardcore' guys like me that buy summer tackle year' round. One thing I looked for and expected to see today was a good stock and assortment of harness components (blades, etc...)-- like many guys, I tie harnesses and play around with similar stuff as a hobby throughout the off-season. Unfortunately, the only items they carried were the standard Northland blades and standard bulk red and white beads available everywhere. Thus, my comments about the lounge -- it just seems to me that as a specialty retail store, they'd carry some more specialty gear year 'round and the extra space is there to do so.

That "lounge" just needs serve food to be complete! even if it is just finger food as long as its tasty, I think would make it a great place to hang out and share hunting and fishing "stories"! LOL!! I could see even reserving that room when our group has our meeting just before a hunting or fishing trip.

The lounge will be used for much more than folks sitting around, take my word for that. There are excellent plans for that room, and you eventually will be glad it's there!

Ask them to carry blades and beads or whatever you are looking for. They need to hear from the customers to make adjustments, and I assure you they will listen.

I stopped in to look around and it reminds me of a bait shop with a small store attached. I admire anyone willing to take the risk of opening a new store in this ecomony, but I'd like to see bargin bins and stuff on sale. Nice store, but because of it's size, it will never compete with the larger stores with 10 times the inventory.
Marketing 101... put stuff on sale so people will have reason to come back. Have people register for a weekly prize, put up a fishing report board in the bait shop and update it... give people lots of reasons to stop in with great customer service. I worked a Sporting Goods Store (Brothers Four) for 3 years, we worked hard to meet the needs of local fisherman and hunters, but eventually got eaten up by Fleet Farm and bad cash flow. People from this area want selection and price!

Please add package goods, snacks and soda to the bait room... best margin you will ever have. You make more money on a bag of chips then 5 Rapalas.

I hope they make it for years to come, they are 1/2 mile from my house on the lake. Let's have a Butte des Morts tournament sponsored by them and launch it from Rainbow Park.

I finally made it there and was very impressed with it especially since it just opened. I loved the tank and lounge and see lots of potential with both those areas. Lots of great suggestions in this thread but remember, they JUST opened. Besides, any store that puts a TV above the urinal rocks in my book

If I get time I will stop by again this week so I can get some pics to post up.

I stopped in last week. Nice store, Brian is a very nice guy and was very easy to talk with. Seems to know his stuff. I lived across the street from his grandparents for 14 years but never got to know the grandkids. I hope they do well.

You do realize 1) It's winter, and therefore ice season and 2) the store just opened, so 'bargain' or closeout stuff ain't happening?

Of course, extreme high margin bead assortments on sale at bargain basement pricng for no margin in the winter makes all sorts of retail sense.

I was there, and they had more specialized baits, line, rods, reels and specialty stuff than any average sports store. A store that size will reflect seasonal trends on the shelves, and they have done an excellent job. Over time the 4 season inventory will grow, but expecting every single tiny little specialty item to be on the shelf in January is...well...

If you want something stocked or available, ask Brian to look into it instead of posting a rude comment here. Probably will get you what you want much more quickly.

Hey Purple Skeeter...Looks like they are running sales on Augers Tents and Flashers NOW, they have stock while most all other stores are out already. As for bins of sale items, you know that those red tags are just the junk no one wants any way. and WOW you guys need to go check the prices on all the stuff, no one is cheaper from what I see.

Good Luck

Call and request that their bait shop open earlier in the day, they will make the change. They are a new store and like any new locally owned venture, I'm sure they would listen to suggestions. I called and they said they are keeping the hours for at least the rest of the winter. If you want earlier hours... call them. I've been there 4 times in the last week for components for crawler harnesses and other stuff. Good staff... keep making suggestions.

If they have a web site, they need to get at the top of the google search.

Feedback is feedback, why delete comments from this board.... there are only a few of us left that comment on the Winnebago thread.

Would it be possible for them to get some bass pro shops exclusive colors? Would be sweet to save on shipping from Bass Pro.

I stopped in to see the place this last week. Very nice! The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. I'm glad to see a store in the area set up for the serious angler.
