 Member Posts: 2680 Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | The bite this morning was outstanding. Launched at 8:30 back in at 11:40. The brisk, almost due West wind changed where the fish were this morning though. The warmer/cloudier waters from both the Kawkawlin and the Saginaw rivers were blowing almost straight East down shore and into even shallower waters then we were in the other day. Took brother Dave a while to get up the nerve, but we ended up trolling in 2.5 feet of water and catching out limits and a few more. We released my limit and Dave's 7 pounder on the way in right in front of the guys jigging at the mouth. Lots of gaping gaws. Also made a qucik trip to Franks to pick up what was the Hot lure this morning. Could not keep this rascle in the water for more then 20 minutes. I know your getting them good trolling but I see lots of snags and crap on your lures... just wondering... another great report with pics. Long "A" Bombers in general run very shallow, especially on short leads like we've been running. The casting option would almost have to involve anchoring, especially in the strong winds we've had the last few trips out. And if not anchored, I think you risk getting blown into some real skinny water and might get stuck there. At least with trolling we can see on the C-map features of the GPS both the depth contours and where/when to avoid going to far. Plus it seems we hit our fish in groups yesterday. Nothing for a while then a double or severl rips in one specific area. Sorting these areas out to consistantly catch fish if anchored and casting would be tough.
