posting this for a friend whom just picked up a new Ranger 620. he got the boat home, fired up the new in-dash HDS7 with insight to start plugging old waypoints into the new graph, and noticed that all the contour lines that are pre-programmed into the unit STOP, like cut off with a knife, at the mouth of the wolf coming out of Winneconne into Butte des Morts............everything west of this point has contour lines and numbers accordingly, but everything east of this point, there are no lines.......just depth numbers. He called the place he bought it from, whom told him to tear it out and bring the unit in for updates, and then proceeded to tell him there was nothing wrong with his unit, because the other 1 in the showroom does the same thing, thats how its supposed to be. however, my friend has gone to 3 other stores and checked out demo units at these stores, and they are all fine, contour lines throughout the whole state................any ideas???

The HDS5 on the bow is also fine showing all contour lines and corresponding depths also

I have a similar problem, but just the opposite. I just installed two HD5s on my boat. Was running one for sonar, one for GPS. I was in Butte des Mortes and ran into the river and the GPS showed my cursor, but it ran right off the map. On mine, everything east showed fine, but everything west was blank. I switched to the GPS on my other unit and it showed the map and contours just fine.

I wish I knew the answer.

What version insight is it? Menu twice system enter to about enter and tell me what version insight you have on your unit 3.0 or 3.3..... There was an insight switch and if you have the new version there is a card you can get from lowrance that does the old version...... Another company bought out the mapping rights for "pre loaded" insight....

Thanks for your response.

Both units are 2009 units and say
Platform 54.3-1
Map Version 1.3
Do I have to go further into the menus?

I have run Lowrance my entire life and switched to Humminbird this year because of issues like this. Good luck being on hold for an hour to get someone who will tell you to send the unit in and you'll get it back in August--- just in time to put the boat away for the fall.
