The big lake was not kind to my son and I, as we fished the SWC qualifier. On Saturday we ended up in the group off Garlic Island first trolling cranks and then later spinners. Spinners were the preferred method, as we witnessed 8-10 fish pulled in on a very slow presentation. We changed up to spinners and caught 6 fish betweeen 14-17". They weren't exactly tournament winning fish but our goal was a top 10 going into the final event on the Bay. Sunday we had three fish all day. We must have been in between all the bites, as I found out after we left the mud off Garlic that the fish went on both cranks and spinners. Due to my big motor shutting down we didn't get to weigh our fish, and my guess is we had 5-6 lbs for our fish which would have put us in around 10th place, our original goal. Every fish we caught was in the bottom 2-3 ft of the water column as I ran spinners high and through the middle without a hit.

Nice report jerry. I was out w/ Avg Joe on Sunday and we had similar results. We trolled cranks from Asylum Point north all the way to Blackbird Island in the morning and picked up only 1 eye that came on a deep husky jerk 110'+ back. We also got a few cats and the highlight of the day we hooked a 5' sturgeon that put up a heck of a fight and even went airborne. Around 11am we pulled up and moved east where we picked up 2 more eyes on harnesses. Between 12-2 we could hardly even catch a sheep so we finally pulled up and called it a day.

I fished poygan saturday and only managed 1 whitie all day, felt like i was fishing the Dead sea. Sunday we fished bago trolling neenah reefs early. Notta a bite , water was too clean and clear. Went out into the mud, found some water with some color to it few miles out from stockbridge and managed 9 eyes from 9am-12. Nothing huge just typical winnabago eaters 15-18". All fish caught on salmo cranks in perch pattern, 2.0mph,10-12feet down in column produced best for us.

I picked up 2 on the North shore tonight. I am glad I had an autopilot or I wouldn't be able to control the boat by myself and fish. I deep on a deep little ripper and the other shallow on a #7 flicker shad.
