thanks tyee , i dont know why but i couldnt get the link up,, looks like its a state wide thing ,, i guess its a good thing still a bit of an inconveniance and expence with leaches and minows left over from ice fishing.. a bit of an added expence for some.. also the bag or two of ice that is needed for taking fish home.. ive been doing this all year because of 99% of my time fishing is on the baggo chain... for me the cost for the open water season was about 200.00 for ice i normaly didnt take along and the leaches i had to toss.. lets face it we can make our own ice if i have enough sence to fill an iceream pail with water and put it in the freezer .. already do it with and empty couple of 1 ltr soda bottles and some re freezable ice packs.. i have found that in years past i would never go to the lake without leaches but this year i guess i did 90% of my fishing with crawlers as i didnt want to throw the money away at the end of the day or smuggle them home... i found that my leaches were missed on some days but with a little more work and effort i still braught my limmit home more often than not... i did not throw a slip bobber out as often as i dont to do as well with a crawler on them ... maybe its better as i didnt get too comfortable in one spot that way.. good fishing .. hope the fish took there vitamins.. lets get threw this winter and see what we have. though i think this rule is on the right track and i guess i have no problem supporting it i still think this viruse is going to spread to most all inland lakes in wisconsin within years. i just thing there is more ways that we cant controle for this virus to spread.. lets hope our fish have time to build up a tollerance or have been exposed to something similar back in the olden days and there genetics can handle the threat... good fishing. thanks again tyee for staying on top of this stuff...

Just wanted to remind people of products like the Frabill Fat and Sassy leach bedding. First, it does an excellent job with the leeches. Second, since you are not keeping them in water or floating them in your live well, there is no need to throw them away at the end of the day.

I will print this and carry a copy in my boat. I am certain that many of those fishing the rivers this fall will have no clue about this ruling. I would suspect the DNR will post launches as fast as they can. Should be interesting. I seems like a logical ruling in that their will no arguement if one was fishing an infected water or not, the rules are all the same. Tough times for tough decisions.
Take care,
Jim O

The only part I don't like is the minnow part...for fall and spring whitebass runs I will sometimes buy 5 dozens minnows and in the past with the cooler temps they stay alive very well....now according to this...if I have a bad day and only use 1 dozen I have to kill the other 4....even though I am coming back to the same spot the next day....

think you can leave your minnows in a minnow basket tied to a tree along shore in a top secret spot or off of a private dock of somone you know along shore? that would be ok? wouldnt it ... im going to have to lease river frontage to park my minow bucket? lol HEY Doc thanks for reminding me of the leach bedding i havent tried it yet but i will be... that is an example of why i like this sight so much... great idias ... oh is frabil traded on the stock market? might wanna buy in?
